Why do 4K Channels Constantly Buffer?

I've tried a few IPTV providers now, and one frustrating issue keeps coming up: 4K channels are almost always unwatchable due to constant buffering. I have 500 Mbps Community Fibre internet and my Homatics box is connected via Ethernet – not Wi-Fi – so bandwidth and connection quality shouldn’t be the problem.

It seems like anything in 4K at 50/60 FPS just chokes. Is this normal across the board? Are these 4K streams just not ready for prime time, or am I missing something? Honestly, what's the point of offering 4K channels if they’re unwatchable?

Would appreciate any thoughts or tips.

Are you sure it's not your stick/box not being able to handle the H.265/4K codec?

I would say it’s down to your provider.
If you are getting 1080p 50/60fps without issue then watch those instead or if you want the few 4k channels that are available then try some different suppliers.

No reason 4k should be smooth the two main are

Ss main event
Ss F1
Tnt ultimate when on

There are others but not worth it i found and during football season they show same game.

Even trying to watch football replays or Wimbledon on the other 4K channels is a nightmare. They constantly buffer or stutter – sometimes the video skips or jumps entirely. On top of that, some of these channels don’t even have audio. Really starting to wonder if any of these 4K streams are actually stable anywhere.

Get a test sub and try it on your phone using the mobile data I bet they work fine. If they do switch to WiFi and test to see if that's the issue. I don't get any problems with those.

4K is 95% fine with my provider and I only have 65mbps FTTC broadband. Definitely look around and try a few trials with other services if you can.

My provider for Sky Sports UHD is normally spot on, but rubbish for TNT ultimate

A lot of the time i just end up using the 1080p 50FPS channels for ease

My TNT is pristine.
SS UHD is less brighter and darker than the FHD

Yeah there's more contrast, blacks and saturation with the UHD.

Have you double checked if the SS UHD is HDR ?

Everyone are concentrating on firestick but not on TV. Is your tv has ability to handle 4k at 50/60 fps ? If not it will try to downscale the content or not stream smoothly. Also you need hdmi 2.1 cables. Finally whether the server you getting this content from is in a position to send packages at required speed. A 50mbps internet speed is sufficient generally to stream 4k content. Suggest you do an internet speedtest so that you would be able to see ping download/ upload readings and your jitter and also data loss readings. It's easy to have a smoother streaming with 4k /25fps.

Modern tv can handle 4k at 50/60fps and 2.0 hdmi cables are fine for that resolution and frame rates.
HDMI 2.1 is for higher bandwidth for 4k at 120hz(gaming) and 8k at 60hz content.

I have a 144Hz TCL gaming TV connected to my Xbox Series X via HDMI 2.1, which works perfectly. I connect my Homatics r 4k plus box to one of the HDMI ports that supports 4K @ 60Hz. Because I’ve tried plugging the IPTV box into the 120Hz HDMI port, but it doesn’t seem to work well there. For whatever reason, the Homatics box runs much more reliably on the 60Hz port.

But after some testing, I’ve concluded that it's a provider issue, especially during high-traffic events like PPVs or weekend football performance noticeably drops on (Astro 4k, now sports 4k, TNT) Not consistent at all....
