Asda SIM Only - Thinking of Transferring from Vodafone

Hi,

Looking for anyone who may have transferred from Vodafone SIM only to Asda, and their experience with this.

I'm thinking of transferring over due to the fact that Vodafone deals are expensive now, and with Asda using the Vodafone masts and charging less it looks a good option.

I'd be looking to transfer my existing number over and from what I've read online there are mixed opinions on whether this can or cannot be done between Vodafone and Asda.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Whilst I have no personal experience of porting between the networks, google suggests there should be no issue.

What deal are you looking at? - I'm confident there are better deals than Asda mobile.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yeah, I did read that information earlier which looks like it can be done. The reason I was looking at Asda is that some areas around where I live only get coverage by Vodafone. Thanks

I've used asda mobile a good few times as i have a dual sim phone. The only issues i find with asda mobile is the topping up part, is not always straight forward. I don't know if you are aware but 3 and vodafone recently merged and apparently now they can share the masts. I jumped from 02 and moved to smarty. Got a 20gb deal at £6.00 per month. Where my phone use to cut out driving the back roads home from work my signal is now strong and no calls cutting out. I will also test at the football match next weekend as where o2 would lock up due to so many people both vodafone and 3 were able to get out, so I am hoping for good things.

Have a look at Talkmobile , they use Vodafone and can usually get better deals through uswitch than on talkmobile website

Looks like there are good deals at the moment for talkmobile through uSwitch. Are you with talkmobile? If so are they pretty good and easy to deal with? Thanks

Got 2 sims and no problems in the 2 or 3 years we have had them , one of them is used in a rural location where vidafone is the best connection. Contact with customer services was good the time I used them , asked them to change contract to match uswitch offer and they did , can’t remember how I contacted them though . You get some free data for use aboard but I think the wife had to let them know she needed to use it first. I recommend them

Just swapped to a Martin Lewis lebara deal. £1.64 a month for 8 months, unlimited calls and texts, 30gb of data, can cancel at any time. It's been much better than my old Three connection so far.
You'll need to double port your number if you go with lebara though.

Will 3nd Lebara, uses Vodafone and is much much cheaper. Transferred my missus onto this a few years ago and she's been fine with it. Switch over was easy and only had about 1 hour dow time.

Just a quick update on this.

I eventually chose to go with Talkmobile. Extremely easy transition from Vodafone. Got my PAC from Vodafone then jumped onto the uSwitch website, got a great SIM only deal for Talkmobile from there. Filled out all the required information including porting my number over using PAC. Got a change over date there and then.

On the given date I noticed I was no longer receiving a Vodafone signal on my mobile, put the Talkmobile SIM card in my phone and all was working, number had transferred over with no difficulties. Thanks again for all the information.

I'd recommend Talkmobile for anyone on Vodafone currently, I have noticed absolutely no drop in coverage (obviously both use the same masts).
