Purchase my own router

I was at a friends recently and they have installed an eero 6 mesh system into their existing router, not sure if that would be a better option for me rather than purchasing a new router and getting my isp to link it as a bridge.
This is a little bit out of my comfort zone so any advise would be really appreciated
Since changing my router password and kicking off my intruder who had 5 devices connected to my system without my knowledge my internet has been a bit more stable but still not as good as it was.
Thanks for any advice
Could your friend not help you replicate his setup?

I am sure he could but I do not want to spend over £250 for a system I'm not sure I need, hence trying to see if anybody can offer any advice on what would be the best option for me before I purchase anything

Is there anything you specifically need this router to do besides it's basic functions of providing wifi etc.?

If internet is not as good as it was and friend kicked of as you now say then why do you think new router will help you should be back to normal.

I really don't know all I know is the signal is not as stable as it was and my isp says nothing is wrong at their end, so I am really just looking at options to try and improve the stability.

Has the isp actually changed your WiFi password yet?

Are they just changing the WiFi password or the admin passwords as well?

Yes if they just changed wifi password, thats useless as neighbour may have admin login details.

That's what I was thinking, can they even do that remotely? They would need to give @HappyHotspur new login details, as the ones on the router would then be wrong.

Yes exactly , but he always had option to do that himself from details on router and I may be wrong unlike older days when a lot of routers had default admn user names and passwords they may now be different on each router. but if he had reset router from reset button then add his own then all would have been sorted.

Even if the neighbour has the admin login they can’t access it without also being connected to the network which they can’t do without the new wifi password.

Sorry but I tried to reset the router and it would not reset, as I said I believe the password is not the same as on the bottom of the router and my isp has blocked any attempt to reset, hence just asking them to change my password seems to have worked. I sued the app 'fing' and it doesn't show any alien devices now attached to my internet, hence I am sure I have cleared of my intruders

Was just reading up on this about Spanish internet routers , and came accross this post: Telfy router : Quesada general discussion
Yes I read that article to and my supplier which is Vega Fibra have exactly the same system. But not sure how they installed their own router as Vega Fibra told me you 'I cannot do that with our supply but you can buy a router and we will put ours into bridging mode for you'. Between them, they have a monopoly in this area, and I think once the fibre goes out of this area it is connected to the Orange system and is routed to Madrid where it is then connected to the National suppliers system. Not sure if that is true or not.

With most ISPs they will have security and family settings turned on in your account settings. Some of these settings need to be disabled when using IPTV as they can cause interference and connection issues to your IPTV provider. See if you can access your ISP account via a browser and have a look if you can edit any of your account settings. Maybe put a screen shot of what you can view and edit. Obviously remove or block out any personal or identifiable information before posting. Anything that maybe scanning your network traffic would be one to switch off for starters.

hard reset there is a switch or button , I don't think suppliers can stop hard reset.
