Kodi is to much hassle for the average user.

People want an easy functioning app with a good IPTV sub job done .

I use this occasional because they don’t have ads like you get with the catchup official apps.
Kodi is definitely worth learning because of the options it has for VOD and its customisation options.

Plus I get the price situation and don't want to ruin the thread. So if anyone gets the x88pro x5m before I decide it might help my decision? ( Am in no rush:smiley: ) Plus am still reading about the Interweb

I had the x96 m200 which is exactly the same specs as the x88 pro x5m, it was the 4gb ram version. It was really snappy and also had auto framerate which was a bonus. The stock launcher was shocking but I installed projectivy launcher, which I had to install through sai installer as some permissions on android 14 weren't allowed.
Overall nice and snappy box and good picture quality, there was reports of wifi not been so gd, the device was only 5 metres from router so I had no problems. The x88 has the better wifi according to a 4dpa forum.
Both boxes have slimbox firmwares available for them.
 
I didn't realise till I tried a few cheap boxes how important a BT remote is to me.

Most of us want to hide these devices behind a TV or in a media wall etc tucked away.

So if I bought one of these boxes could I use Google play and download downloader and tivimate again and use these apps?
 
Read somewhere on here about the dcolor gd1 4k stick but not sure if its in the same class as some of the other alternatives mentioned on here?

You going to buy the Ugoos sk3 when they release it?
Even though it looks like it will have android 12. Mind you android 14 does have its own issue.

Yeah me too and the Rockchip SoC should have great performance looking at the Geekbench scores.
I won’t touch a device with android 14 for now and won’t flash my Sk1 either.
I don’t understand why they haven’t fixed the interlacing issue on android 14 tbh.
Seen a few going back to 12 on the Homatics box R 4k

Yeh can't wait.
I had the sk1, it was fast but not a lot faster than the shield so kept that. Also had the homatics box r 4k plus, its a decent box for the price £60-£70 on aliexpress and excellent with audio passthrough, just the firmware on 14 with overheating lets it down. Very unlikely to get anymore support from homatics.
