Getting into satellite in 2026

Sadly i dont have a sat finder. I think i might be getting a different issue though before alignment as the AGC value is 0 on the signal finder on my box and I have read that this should be above 0 even if the dish is not aligned correctly. I have tried with another cable and still getting the same issue.

Follow his instructions to get 28.2 then go from there, you need a sat finder to make life easy

Here is the dish. I just adjusted it using the elevation scale on the back rather than the sat finder app read out. Still getting 0 across all signal levels on my box

Have a look at the position of you neighbour's dish and try getting it as close as possible to those, are you sure your LNB is working ok?

Also check the skew of lnb and are cons/cable def ok?

Have a look at the position of you neighbour's dish and try getting it as close as possible to those, are you sure your LNB is working ok?

without a sat finder i can only get it so close, according to my phones compass it should be right and it looks pretty close to how my neighbour's dishes are pointing, which is why im started to think the LNB i got with the kit might be faulty.

skew of the lnb looks fine, i have tried connecting via another cable going through the window, bypassing the existing cable and that still showed no signal. Don't have a multimeter but the f connectors have a tingly feeling so pretty sure voltage is going through the cable without issue

Use dishpointer to align, also is that a quad lnb? Try another port.

Be rare for all ports to be faulty
Cable/conns /alignment

Screwfix sell universal LNB's for £13

Comes up as Universal so should be ok, Screwfix sell a universal LNB for around £13 if you think it's that.

Use these settings on the box to see if you are getting any signal

This is something i feared. setting the elevation any lower causes it to be looking basically at the fence. I have a feeling im going to need to raise the tripod somehow. Will take another crack at it in a week or two after getting a sat finder. There is a pole coming out of the ground I can mount it on high enough to clear the fence but its very much not plumb, which will rule out motorizing it in the future

Its deceiving, how close is the fence from the dish it should definitely be ok

Im convinced it was witchcraft 🤣

It will clear the line of site, loads of us have ground mounted dishes.

Get yourself a meter or at least have a tv showing a signal meter from your sat box to use as a guide

Now tweak it to max signal out, small movment up and down and left to right
