Motor alignment issues.

Hi everyone 2 days in to my new 1.2 motorised setup on the v8uhd and my USALS seems to be playing up. Was all working perfect yesterday but today when I change satellite particularly on 16e I’m getting no signal with USALS unless I go into the menu and press go to position and then it instantly gets a good signal but yesterday I could change to 16e and it would automatically find the signal without the added step of pressing go to position. On other satellites it’s finding the signal but not at the strongest signal point it could be. How come I have to keep pressing go to position to get the best signal unlike before. Has anyone had the same experience. I was worried if the dish had slightly moved but how does it perfectly align itself automatically when I press go to position if something had moved makes no sense. It’s very annoying as it’s causing an extra step every time when changing satellites.

Make sure all those sats are stored as usals and not been changed to diseqc.

Hi I do have these specific sats set to USALS on the menu and the dish moves to that direction but is slightly off and then perfects it’s self when selecting move to position in the menu but yesterday that extra step was not needed and I can’t understand why I have to now press move to position to get the signal.

If usals coordinates are correct you shouldn't have any issues, go to position is a diseqc setting

Is it likely that something has gone wrong from the receiver side making USALS slightly off or more likely the dish has moved slightly in the wind. It was only installed two days ago and all was perfect for 2 days. Just wondering if it can be fixed from the receiver makes things easier otherwise I’ll have to bring the installer back out again to up to the dish.

Reload your saved channel list , if still the same and weather had been extremely windy then maybe installer should come back, not knowing if you've inadvertently done something is the key possibly.
Are usal coardinates correct, same as when they were working correctly?

I tried again and turned the box on and off and it’s still the same issue on USALS requiring me to press go to position to get the signal.

Haven't got an exact fix for you.

in the Usals menu , you have a fine tune option W or E using the remote, see which direction improves the signal in 16e. Alternatively Try changing your longitude setting and seeing if that gets you a signal . Then most likely dish moved a little but.

Hi yes I have tried the fine tune on USALS and if I go a few clicks towards east I get the full signal I’ve even pressed store position but when if i change satellites again and go back to it it’s the same issue no signal stopping slightly more west just off where the signal is but yesterday it was stopping perfectly where it should. Dish was professionally installed only 2 days ago so I wouldn’t expect it to already have moved so quick.

Saving is diseqc

Is it normal to expect USALS to work accurately on a 1.2 meter motorised setup side mounted to the house am I better off using diseqc 1.2 and saving best positions or should I expect USALS to work accurately long term and get the installer back in to correct the USALS ? I’m fairly new to this so I’m not sure what I should expect from USALS and whether I should just use diseqc 1.2. It’s annoying as for the 2 days it was working accurately it was really good but since it’s already slightly misaligned so quickly I have no idea if that’s expected or not. Plus it worries me if it’s moved already slightly that if I go and save positions in diseqc 1.2 then it might move again and then they will need adjusting to get a signal.

Usals should work fine, either dish has moved or you have altered some settings.

Other than playing with the fine tuning option and switching from diseqc 1.2 and USALS I haven’t touched anything else. What is the likely setting that could change the USALS position to cause this problem I can check to see if that’s correct and change it back if so ?

Maybe consider getting a enigma2 box to run the dish and slave your v8 to it.

If the dish needs to move slightly more east then you can correct it by making the box think you are located more west than you actually are. Change the longtitude stting to a more west position. This will work but need to experiment to find best longtitude setting.

That's what I suggested above ,he'd know then if the dish had moved slightly...

I think most of you are missing this point !

So when he does the above step it aligns perfectly and he gets signal.

My thoughts are this 16e position setting has been manually stored incorrectly.

When you select move to position its going to the usuals index position and pulling in signal.

If this was me id bite the bullet reinstall the latest firmware and use a channel list other than the one he has.

I just attempted it with Thor 0.8w USALS moved the dish to position and I had no signal. Went to find tune and about 4 or 5 clicks toward east and it found the signal for Thor 0.8w.

Well that is totally different scenario to what you have happening with 16 so it could well be alignment issues or wrong coordinates.

Ring your installer and tell him to use big repair washers. Thanks me later.
