Most VPNs work on the X96 Max+ mate but PIA can be hit and miss on some Android 9 boxes try an older PIA version or test another VPN to see if it’s a compatibility issue with the box

Sorry to be blunt but those are the biggest pile of crap going. Why would you buy a device running android 9 which is around 7 year old firmware. We are now on android 16. That is probably the reason the app won't work. Login to the Google play store and download it from there.

Because I dont have a clue and it was recommended by HiTek on the alternative device thread, so if it is as crap as you say maybe the tread should be removed by admin

Personal choice I've done a few and ended up returning them. On about 4 of them the Google play store banner kept appearing on the screen and no matter what I tried it kept coming back.

Android 9, officially known as Android Pie, was publicly released on August 6, 2018
8 years is a heck of long time in tech for things to change.

Very good @Ferret. But I think its better to buy at least a more modern box it would save a lot of hassle.
Ive recommended the Tanix TX5 Plus or at least a box with that SoC from the start of this Firestick thing to be fair.

But trying to get stuff to work is what this forums about in it ?

I mean TiviMate officially requires Android 6 or higher.
I am running Android 11 and won’t update my device to 14 because of some of the issues seen on device upgrading to 14 from a 11 and 12.
I have no issues running Android 11 but I don’t use any official streaming apps.

Not a fan of outdated apps specially a VPN down to individual choice just because something works doesn't mean you should do it.
