Until Google officially stop the sideloading of apps it doesn’t really matter if they are on the playstore. It’s just a convenience for installing and updating them quickly.
They also like their market dominance and one of the reasons for that is their OS is not locked down like Apple’s.
Whether that changes in the future only time will tell.
That makes me happy but the rotating apps leaving the playstore is very troubling especially since nobody really seems to know why. Poor Waveo ended up rebranding and hasn't been seen on it since. That isn't even considering the hot mess poor Sparkle is going through.
I’m getting really tired of Google and Apple interfering with what we can and can’t do with our own devices. Android’s openness has always been one of its biggest strengths, and it would be a shame to see that gradually eroded in the name of “security” while genuinely malicious apps still slip through the cracks, I blame Apple for this set standard they always do this…
sideloading is still an option for now, but it’s hard not to see the direction things are heading.
