I wouldn't write off an excellent browser due to this issue. It almost has to be something on your end as noone else seems to having this issue. Not completely sure I follow you on your problem. You type an address in to the address bar and then hit enter but nothing happens? Is that right?

Try uninstalling it completely, run ccleaner doing a registry clean, restart and install it again, then restart again before using firefox again. Alot of restarts i know lol but if it gets the job done ...

how do i "Try disabling the AVG Safe Search extension".

found this as well after Google-ing alot lol

I cannot use the shortcut click ctrl+enter in firefox 4. Why? How do I fix it? | Firefox Support Forum | Firefox Help

is it something to do with the AVG installed on my computer?

Added after 21 minutes:

right tried all that AVG search disabling, no luck, so had enough and removed AVG 2011

and restarted the machine for the i dont know 5th time lol

and VOILA mozilla firefox 4 is working like a beauty! looks like the AVG does not want to be friends with FF4 :(

now im without a anti-virus software, so which one do you guys recommend? something that would run in the background and takes less memory up but does the job.

I am running Microsoft Security Essentials and have been for a while now without any issue.
