this box also does 3d

first time flashing this box changes it from a terrestrial box to a cable box.

firmware is now in downloads currenthttp://www.techkings.org/downloads.php?do=file&id=414

if file is in rar format it needs extracting first by a program called winrar also in downloads under pc,copy the file to usb as per instructions underneath.[/COLOR]
and no it does not come with the box.

flashing the box

Please follow the instructions below

(1) Format a usb pen drive to FAT32 on your PC first

(2) Then get the file you have downloaded and copy it across to the usb then

(3) Turn the box off at the back and put the USB into the front of the box

(4) Then turn the power back on to the box when the box powers up go to the menu and select Software upgrade press ok

(5) Then allow the box to reboot, after that you will see the cable scan option just scan as with the older box

Ps if you see on screen usb initializing all the time your USB pen has not been formatted to Fat 32

GUYS WHEN SCANNING FOR CHANNELS YOU MIGHT NEED TO SCAN ON ALL OF THE PROVIDERS MAKING SURE YOU FACTORY DEFAULT THE BOX EACH TIME, SO IF NO CHANNELS ON SCAN ON N*l SCAN ON EXCW, THEN TW, AREAS HAVE CHANGED OVER THE LAST FEW WEEKS AND AREAS HAVE BEEN CHANGED

use a hdmi cable instead of scart and not both to tv.

best to scan your box from main coaxial feed no splitters or though extensions.
connect the coaxial cable with the adapter supplied if needed to input
have your lan cable ready but not plugged in yet
plug in and power on box
as there is limited info around of unsure if settings need to be adjusted
installation choose auto not all to scan or is it scan networks instead of all.
that should bring up provider to scan on and to pick up net ids.
getting no net ids would suggest wrong provider, change provider,
always factory default/reset box before scanning and this does not affect firmware.
when your channels have finished and loaded connect lan cable.
also when needed a reboot is powering off box modem and router for 30 secs then on
it is suggested to add a variable -20db variable attenuator to your coaxial cable just before box
as your signal may be far too high and need reducing.philex_variable_tv_attenuator.jpg

this is a work in progress so will adjust when more correct info is added thanks to all.

ok update many people are using the superhub and plugging their lan cable into this which is wrong as it loses its ip address and to add a wifi router and connect up to kv,switch off wifi on superhub to bring signal up higher.

if you have the super hub and have problems you can try this also.

found this elsewhere.he has the super hub.

Ok since I last posted I decided to switch my not so super hub into
modem mode(WiFi off) and connected to the hub a netgear dual band
wireless N router brought off eBay for 35quid.
Then connected my kV 780 to the new router. After using this method for
over a week I have seen a vast improvement I rarely get a scrambled
message with loss of picture. And channels that were previously terrible
are watchable again as at worst the picture will freeze every 5mins or
so for 2secs with the sound continuing then picture resumes.
I know this may not work for every but if your still struggling with bad
reliability buying a decent 300m wireless N router for 20quid and using
this method I highly recommend.
At worst if this method doesn't improve your viewing you'll have better
WiFi range as in my case and many others the super hubs wireless signal
was poor. .

further update
one member i know tried everything to get box to update but it would not, last few days he got the new suberhub2 and has everything connected to it,no need for router and his box updated easily and is running much better now.

someone asked about updating to new firmware i believe you use the internet upgrade and dont touch anything until it downloads and box reboots.
factory reset/default and rescan from main feed with no splitters/boosters or variable attenuators and remember providers and net ids can change.

http://www.techkings.org/downloads.php?do=file&id=414

last online update is
New Software Online
Software Version: ** 1.02.07
Software Date: may 26 2014
just to add there is a mod been done on theses boxes to improve viewing and has been reported by others to be a worthwhile fix so no boosters or variable attenuators will be needed then.

new boxes by now should have had the mod done at source before you get it,please check with supplier.

as you know by now the old way is dead, online update box to use newcamd server of your choice nline.

to get box working scan for channels and add your details below that you get from provider like this.

" N: web.address zzzzz xxxxxx yyyyy 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14
You get this from provider

Convert web address provided to ip and enter this on first option
zzzzz is your port
xxxxx is your user id
yyyyyy is your password
0102.... Without spaces
Active = yes
wait for couple of minutes
not connected should change to connected

you are good to go

i scanned channels before entering this info. Not sure if makes any difference

first time flashing this box changes it from a terrestrial box to a cable box.

firmware is not posted on any forum but ask your supplier where to get it
and no it does not come with the box.

get a usb stick formatted to fat 32

As for the firmware its put on with a usb pen as below

format pen drive to fat32
put file on pen drive
turn power to box off
put pen drive into rear of box
switch power back on
Quick flash on the screen will appear then screen goes blank
box boot's up again you need to get into menu and select Software Upgrade
press ok then your firmware will appear on screen
just press the ok button again
after the box reboots again it will ask for Cable scanning and after that its just like the old box.

best to scan your box from main coaxial feed no splitters or though extensions.
connect the coaxial cable with the adapter supplied if needed to input
have your lan cable ready but not plugged in yet
plug in and power on box

Couldn,t of said it better myself,,,,lol

Would be a good idea if a mod can sticky this thread, so any updates are freely and simply available :beg:

jodav :)

strange picture problem maybe owners of box had and fixed with hdmi.

have an issue with my new KV a850. The default settings on the kv box are HDMI output and 1080i resolution. However when connecting to my hd tv it is very jittery and you can barely make out the screen. Instead the only way around it is to change the settings to 526i which is very low? I've tried different HDMI leads but no joy it seems like an issue with the box?

Also my channels on 526i output are still very jittery especially all the HD channels?
on a lg hd tv and on latest ...... SV 1.01.07 NOV 13 2012
coaxial cable and lan not connected even bad picture on the menu.

in relation to the picture issues do we have anymore info i have used these boxs on 50" plasmas to small 19" lcd displays without any hassle used directly via HDMI cable picture does not look great until been flashed with new firmware. suppose simple check would be to check on another television and see if issues still occur.

have asked him to try another tv as that will rule out either box or tv ,scart signal works ok but no hd as expected,he is on latest firmware,i have also asked if any other hd product can be used on that hdmi cable and port.awaiting answer

Hi Guy,s can anyone tell me how to make the writing at the bottom of the screen when i go from channel to channel just can,t find it anywhere in the menu,,, cheers guy,s

do you mean the channel info stays there for 5 secs then goes,in settings there should be a setting to reduce message on screen,or maybe transparency to reduce it to a ghost image lol,as i dont have this others can add to it.

The OSD does usually clear after a few seconds but sometimes just stays on screen. However pressing exit can clear if appears to have failed to auto close.

Just purchased The phoenix hd a850, from dealer online it was priced at £250, best to buy from a good supplier than from ebay people.

Now the firmware that's the question, it seems a quest for indiana jones to try and find this, It is hard. If any help comrades. That would be great.

THANKS TO BOXT------------- I am now up and running, scanned for all channels from other people help here in Techkings pages.
now just to delete the dirty channels like LIVERPOOL FC TV, DIVA and Sky Livingit, i will update soon as to how it is going and any issues which might others out in time to work out,
