Ok, if S+y are swapping all the boxes for new ones, so they can update to the latest firmware. for the HD to clear on there boxes once the new firmware is out they will need to have phone line connection. Now there is alot of S+y customers without a land line who already have the 890 boxes?. I can live with SD its not a problem, But if I was paying S+y prices £78 amonth with the 10amonth HD I would not be happy specially if it was taken from me with no fault of my own.
 
It will come down to simple economics, pi$$ off a few people to get rid of the scourge of lost revenue. But at that stage, hopefully someone will have gotten on top of it, and cracked what they need to do.
 
Hope so wheelo, S+y must make a tidy sum out of the servers. I would rather have nothing than pay S+y there full fee.
 
It's a shame we wont have Sky Sports HD next season at this rate. In all honesty, if SD stays for a while, I can deal with it, it's good enough for me!
 
Just wondering if the new pairing methods used by Sly use MHEG5 and the range of Vu+ boxes (for example the Vu+ Solo2) don't currently have this codec compatibility - Will we all need to use some new range of tuners? Or would some sort of plugin become available to make them compatible again - presuming someone eventually comes up with some sort of workaround?
 
My supplier has said there should be software available shortly to upscale the standard definition channels to HD
