no signal on the following channels: Setanta Ireland.setanta sports 1 and priemier sp

its a communal dish and i have both sly box and f5 connected but i have the loop swell i only get it on these channels though what do you think?

hi mattncarys
i think there is no way you can use a loop on both boxes!!!! they need a separate cable direct to the dis/LNB
i got a proper sky+HD samsung box,was using for 2 years, and also purchased a SKYBOX F5S,fitted it to my dish ,seperate cables to my 8wayLNB,but as soon as i watched my proper sky+ box,my F5S would lose some channels.
I tried everything to get it to work "signal fix"lead from ebay etc etc. In the end all i needed to do was purchase a £6 new LNB. fitted it and now both boxes work 100%
it seems that certain LNB's just are not compatible with both types of sky boxes working at the same time

Ah...extra information.

Disconnect both feeds to your official Sky+ box & connect only your F5s to one of the LNB cables.

Does that make a difference?

ha ha you gotta laugh! took till post #61 to tell us its a communal dish!
only one box connected for sure is only way,and i think even then depends on rest of the communal connections to the DISH might effect your F5Sbox

dont forget i have a single dish with a 4 way LNB (8way LNB not compatible for me!)and that needed a certain make /type of LNB to work 100%
i guess the communal dish has at best an 8 way LNB!!

sorry guys thought i mentioned it so sorry :whacko: anyway i tried disconnecting the normal sly box and feeding the f5 on its own its makes no difference whatsoever still no signal on them channels

Can u get to ur dish?
If u can try taking all but ur 1 feed to skybox out . If its not that then ur really outa options. And I know both you, ur seller and others have said u should get them have u tried a testline with someone else to prove it to urself? Ur last option is then new lnb. They're cheap and easy to fit providing u have easy access to dish

hi again!
sorry about my comment about #61 message,
you look fked as you wont be able to change LNB if its a communal dish! all the other boxes connected to that LNB are stopping you getting certain frequency channels( i know it happen to me).
maybe you can put up a dish yourself? but i guess you live where only 1 dish allowed! on the premises
have you got virgin cable in your building if so maybe your better off with cable box CS

Knew I'd mentioned the communal dish lol thanks guys for your help I can't get to it unfortunately and can't fit one myself I guess that's what happens when you live in a flat/apt guess I'm just gonna have to leave it at least it's not sky sports etc thanks for your help guys

I knew you were using a communal dish, but didn't realise you were also using a Sky+ box & using the loop out on the F5s.

The "no signal" problem affects vertical channels only. Both Setanta channels & Premier are on horizontal transponders, so shouldn't be affected, and you have said that you have already tried the Ebay "no signal fix" without success anyway.

It's a strange problem in that it is only these 3 channels that show no signal. As I said earlier, I would have expected the message to show "scrambled" if it was a server problem, but it might still be worth trying a test line from another provider as suggested above. You never know.

You say that it is only these 3 channels, but have you gone through the whole channel list? I'm wondering if these channels are also working which are on the same transponder:-

Sony movies

This is correct. If a server issue it would show scrambled NOT invalid channel/No signal e.t.c.Your issue is 100% the setup you have i.e communal dish/Lnb/box e.t.c.A server doesn,t determin your signal.

hi kremmen and bobless
i can confirm as it happened to me that certain LNB with an original sky+ box and a F5S will not work 100%
and its definitely on certain frequency channels both H/V polarized
i changed my lnb from an octo(8way) to a quad(4way) as suggested to me after trying the no signal fix etc etc
and now both boxes run fine 100%
i dont know why this is but its true
it showed certain channels with no signal by the way (never showed "SCRAMBLED" message) so i new it was a LNB/BOX/frequency problem

p.s
have you gone into the satellite settings page and tried to change the LNB frequency range? the first 3 universal settings are slightly different to accommodate for a few
different LNB types

Thanks guys how do you do this bigguy283?

And Kremmen you are correct i never checked the below channels as i don't use them but they also show no signal its without doubt my set up as i knew it always was its just really strange and annoying lol just stuck really not much as i can do i don't think without more knowledge :

I have heard reports that wireless equipment near to the receiver or LNB cable can cause interference on 1 transponder.

Do you have cordless phones or a wireless router near to the skybox? If so, you could try moving them, or switching them off completely to see if the channels return.

The correct LNB freq in Installation > Antenna setup, should be set to Universal (9750-10600).

hi again!
i would try any of the first 3 universal LNB frequency settings and as you change them you will see the signal and quality change!
mine was i think on the first universal setting, i changed it to the second one, which was fine for my LNB
