What are the changes in the latest firmware?

Also what is the best procedure of upgrading the box? Is it best to reset the box to factory settings before firmware update?

What tips do I must follow to lessen the chances of bricking my box?
 
The latest firmware (April 2014) corrects the XMLTV 1 hour bug problem.

It's always best to save your C line or N line info before updating (if you don't already have a backup), just in case something should go wrong. When you upgrade the firmware you should chose "keeping DBS & settings" to keep your line details, channel list & other settings. No need to reset to factory settings.

What is your current firmware?

Whenever I have tried to upgrade my cloned F5 with genuine firmware by USB, I get the message "upgrade file is mismatch".

According to Yojiatech website I thought the latest firmware is September 140410_0925?

So if I get that "upgrade file is mismatch" message then its a clone? Is that the only way to tell if the box is a clone or not?

I thought updating the firmware automatically resets to factory settings after the update?
 
hi is there a new update / firmware for the openbox V5S as i'm having some problems with the current firmware thanks

The clue is in the numbers. 140410 is the date (10th April 2014).

If you have the box that the V5s came in, it might have a QR code (square barcode) on it. If you scan it with a smart phone it will take you to skybox.cc (original firmware), or hddvbsw.com (clone firmware). I'm still not sure about whether firmware from yojiatech is for clone boxes or not. I keep meaning to try it on my clone & original boxes.

Also, when your box boots, do you see skybox.cc in the bottom right corner of the boot screen?

If you go to menu > tools > information, you can see what your current firmware is.

As I said above, if your current firmware has the option in the menu for "keeping DBS & settings", then it will retain your current settings.

I cant find the cardboard box. Should I see the skybox.cc on screen during boot because I don't have a skybox only a openbox? I just see the black/white openbox logo during boot.

Isnt yojiatech the official website for openbox v5s? If it is official do you think they will provide clone fake firmware?

Hi m8 it's the April software I have and the problem was
With one of my boxes constantly saying no signal although I had tried it on 3 different sat feeds on 28e
I got told an update I.e new software would sort this out
But I saved everything before a factory reset , done the reset and that
Solved the problem so the box is working fine now thanks for your reply
 
The new openbox V5s does not come withe the QR code on it and just loads the image openbox I get mine off the same dealer i got my genuine skyboxes F5s I tend to look at the firmware and what date it was loaded and the abs file and check it against skybox cc

How do I check my openbox v5s against skybox website?

Also I am confused about the firmware...... For v5s openbox do I get firmware from skybox site or yojiatech site? Which one is the official for the openbox v5s?
 
Skybox and Yojiatech are realy the same company just that you cant buy boxes direct from skybox the firmware is mainly the same if you go to tools >information on the box you will see the software version what is loaded you can the check by unzipping the latest file for your box and comparing the 2

Yeah its just confuses openbox owners like me thinking skybox website is just for skyboxes not openboxes and yojiatech resembles the only official website to openbox owners. Hope they clear this confusion. What do you think?
 
I am really confused can someone please explain the following:

Im on Yojiatech website and I seem to see different versions of the same 140410 firmware?:


- 140410_0925
- 140410_0822

Can someone please clarify and explain the above as its confusing.

Also on the Yojiatech website the openbox v5s and skybox f5s are on different pages/sections to each other on the website. Why is that when they suppose to be identical?
 
The 0925 is the latest up to date firmware its probably added the bliss key that wasnt on the 0822 firmware the reason that they are different from skyboxes Maybe the chip (read on a different post but dont know if its true)

It is kinda confusing for the average person. For example if you take the 140410_0925 firmware it could mean 3 dates which makes it confusing:

- 10/04/14?
- 25/09/14?
- 28/09/14?

Why cant they stick to one date for a firmware?

If you say my box is different from skybox because its a openbox then is it a good idea not to download from the skybox site and instead download from the yojiatech site?
 
Look into your box menu for Information on what firmware installed--make a note--then compare to above list and you will now know whether you are up to date or firmware needs upgrade.The inner dates are the actual "made" dates and the right hand dates are when the files went onsite.
Anyway these files are just F5s files remodded for V5s but no different in content

Yeah I checked my box and my firmware is showing: 3601HD_10_04_2014_0670

Do I have the latest compared to the above firmwares?
 
If you are not experiencing any problems then leave that firmware alone [no upgrade required]
Check the support sites on a regular basis for new files and remember that the Openbox V5s is a Skybox F5s is a Libertview F5s --all use same firmware.

I might as well have the latest firmware that has the latest features as well as fixing bugs. Because of this firmwares confusion im scared I might brick my box hence I require all this clarification to avoid bricking my box. Can you confirm that 140410_0925 firmware is different to 140410_0822 because its more recent and up to date? Or is it the same firmware cause 10/04/14 firmware is the same as 10/04/14 firmware?
