Windows 7 RC coming soon:

Microsoft has confirmed on their web site that the release candidate (RC) of Windows 7 will be available for public download next month, and there will be no limit on the number of product keys available. This should avert a situation like the one that occurred when the public beta was released in January, when Microsoft's servers were overloaded by wannabe beta testers who were afraid they wouldn't get a copy since the company said the beta would be available for a "limited time." The RC is expected to remain available at least through June and won't expire until June 1, 2010.

Expected due date is the end of May 2009.

Been wanting to test drive it anyway.

Cheers!

It's not all that m8, I have it on a laptop. Maybe not the rc1
But it is the latest one to date and imo vista is better. Not sure about windows 7 but by the time the final is released, who knows?

I've got the beta version laying around somewhere and just haven't gotten around to installing and playing with it. Too much sidework. ;)

I've been using it for a while now (through VM Workstation) & as one of the greatest haters of VISTA ever! I think Windows 7 is going to be a major success.

That of course is only my opinion.

Have one of tha last releases on another laptop here and I love it. Really good looking in general and I'd agree when you say it'll be a big big hit compared to Vista! It's like Vista after a fitness regime!

Not to start an argument here, Just simply out of curiosity. What is it that people hate about vista, I mean I know the release of windows 7 was because of the negativity vista has recieved but I really can't understand whats so bad about vista. I use vista and it's nice looking, snappy OS. I have no complaints, But I am interested to see what it is about vista that people hate. Thanks in advance.

No argument with regard to Vistas eye candy features, they are sweet.

But eye candy alone doesn't cut to the chase.

Vista is way way too power hungry for what it is.

Vista really tried to take ownership from users when it comes to networking (It's a pure bit*H!).

I won't go on & on either but I just hate it with a passion & wouldn't entertain it only for in my work I have to.

It's like everything else though, remember the box thingies that used to let you watch subscription TV for free?

Some swore by the Euro tingy & others preferred the Replay, you know how it is.... What ever floats your boat I guess.
