I don't know why you're having so many crashes all font size's where set like that to work with fragiles skin. might be patronising but after your first crash did you reboot box again not gui because box crashes seem to reboot gui and causes issues with hard drive also have you set usb properly
 
I am just griping because I am an ATV man.. Don't worry about it. ;) Plus its playing more nicely now I have editted most of the settings.

i recommend you go through every menu in the the setup menus and change every font size back to 0 on every screen.

now on my 4 crash so far. All I am doing is going through the menus, I have only had in for about 40 mins. This is going to be fun

Exactly the reason I made the bold move to build my own from scratch using your guides. It's the best way to learn more about your box and it ain't the ballache you think it might be

I've not had a crash I can remember (maybe one when I was trying to get the box to do loads at once)

It's quicker, cleaner and slicker. Even when doing a backup or flash
 
now my box seems to have frozen. Just going through all the menus and decided to do a backup image. Its been stuck on 18% for like ever. Hopefully it wont break if I had the on off button. Its probably ran out of memory as there is that many plugins installed. :(
 
OK... overall I am pretty happy with my skin on a vix build. (that is, once transperancy and font sizes were sorted out.) Nothing is broken, everything looks as it should. Info button doesn't work like it does on openatv as on openatv it brings up the eventview. There doesn't seem to be an easy option to change this in vix. It's not in the menus. But you can go into button select and change it to eventview.

Menu... Setup... system... userinterface... button setup.
Press info button
EPG
Show Event Details

I have now got screenshots of all the extra vix menus with their screen name, so I can get cracking skinning these vix only screens.

Hopefully you won't have that awkward moment where your backup is too big to flash :willy nilly:
 
Just a quick thing, after changing skin and restarting gui I just have the spinner showing. Been like this for 30 mins now, should I be patient or try again?
 
Despite my early gripes about this bloated backup image... its not too bad once you edit every setting especially font sizes, rows and transparency, remove youtube, ondemand, crossepg, kodi, tsmedia, tspanel, media portal, remove and reinstall xmltvimporter and rytec, remove cacheflush, delete its folder in /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions, reinstall cacheflush (ok I am lying i still couldn't get cacheflush to show in plugins), remove the alien bootloader graphic.

All is good then :happy:

patience of a saint, i never wait more than 30 seconds before hitting the on off button. It was probably doing something in the background like loading epg data or something. A new skin should load straight away on a reboot. If it doesn't just hit the on off button and try again if the skin failed.

it may have been easyer just to flash a fresh vix img of your own with out any plugins ie (ondemand, crossepg, kodi, tsmedia,)
that way you no whats what
 
Does that mean you're not going to skin cross epg? That works fine with vix.
Is plugin feeds working again on 3.2?

I had to test sucmnsees image, as it is the most popular backup image on here. I am glad I did so now I can inform people what to change to get the best out of my skin.

That means yes there was a issue with oscam feeds. I haven't used 3.2 I use hades018 that has no issues with plugins or cross epg that uses satmate.

To be honest I am probably going to call an end to this project at the end of next week. I am so bored to death of it now. It has taken up far too much of my time. 10 very long weeks. The reason I am testing on vix tonight is just to see what is urgent that is left.

Plus my post has had nearly 30000 views. And do you know how many people have been kind enough to buy me a beer. 6. So my enthusiasm for the project has died. Everything I use is skinned so that was my original mission. There is about 20 screens/elements I know I still have to do and then I also have to do a code clean up of all my templates, plus a clean up of all the graphics folders and I need to go through every image and icon and see if I can knock some kilobytes of the files sizes with some png compression software. After that I am pretty much done and going to enjoy christmas. It's been interesting, but you got to call it a day sometime.

Very true Kiddac, you've done us proud! Before I update to your latest build can I just check all the settings you recommended changed on VIX won't need applied again? I made them earlier cheers. Sure they won't but...

Wow even 50p a view would be a good little Christmas bonus. No biggy anyway only time I go into cross epg is when the info hasn't downloaded properly that's probably less than once a month. Thanks for the effort sofar like I said before this is the best skin I've seen about so a big thanks from me.
