Cable Best software - vix or openatv?

Just looking for a bit of advice on the different softwares available, undecided on vix or openatv?

Can anyone spell out the pro's and cons of each or point me to a thread that does please :)

I'll be running it with both sly & vermin lines with one of the sly/bluehd themes available

I've got no need for any media plugins as I've got a Fire TV to do Kodi & Plex etc

or should i just go with sucmnsee's latest build as it seems to be the most supported here on the forum

thanks, to be fair this is my guinea pig box to go in the man cave until the sly contract is up........can't subject the wife and kids to an openbox/skybox standard,

what box would you recommend? i'll be buying 2 more once I've ironed out all the kinks........... one that doesn't break the bank :)
 
depends what are your needs,do you have vm broadband if so cable side can work,or just sat?want to record?

missed the cable bit you could have a combo miraclebox on sat and cable,record on cable watch sat box would need twin lines sat + cable

I've got a sat feed and a live cable feed so thought a combo box would be best, get the sly exclusives and the HD's on cable, can record on one and watch on the other

i'm no expert but also not a complete n00b......my hat goes off to the patient & determined member on here that answer some of the 'interesting' questions form people that just should not be dabbling with this lol
 
Thanks for the guide but I've done my fair share of reading before posting, I'm comfortable with the setup etc
Was just looking for a bit of guidance on which software people prefer and why, openatv has the nightly builds and auto updates whereas vix builds aren't officially supported on a zgemma but there seem to be more people using them judging from the general chatter on here

People buy the Zgemma's for the Price as with anything us Brits like we like a bargain and for around £65 or cheaper for a Combo linux Enigma2 receiver you cant go wrong, they are great starter box no doubt about it but when you buy something more substantial like a Vu+ or an Xtrend or Gigablue which are Korean made you know you have quality now only in looks but the feel of everything as well, Again though they come at a premium.

The chinese like to clone everything they can and are exceptionally good at it and market there products at a certain price which brings in the punters, The Zgemma's are just last years Openbox / Skybox but for people who want something more.

My advice buy one cut your teeth on it with a steep learning curve then relegate it to one of the kids rooms then purchase a korean made machine that takes pride of place

I'm under no illusions......the zgemma is my Guinea pig box for the man-cave until the sly contract is up, i just knew I didn't want a skybox/openbox as from the reading I've done it would be meeting my hammer very quickly lol
Was just looking for real world feedback on which software people prefer and why,
I like the look of the vu+ duo2.....don't like the look of the price though lol
