USB adapter - no drivers

Linny40

TK LADY VETERAN
I have an actiontec USB adapter, but have lost the cd with the drivers on.
Have tried to download drivers, but once downloaded cannot open them.
Its an actiontec 802UIG-1 but the driver wont load saying i dont have the programme needed or something PRISMIOC.vxd PRISMA02.sys they were zipped, so tried to open them on this pc with winrar, but still cant open due to not having the correct progs. The utility has loaded ok but says drivers are not loaded so there for it will not work.

Any help please of maybe how i can get a copy of the drivers that are unzipped so they can be put on a flash pen and added to the pc that we are trying to load the USB adapter on for wireless internet, its an XP operating system. The only cd with drivers on i have are for the old Actiontec Router and wireless card for laptop - nither will work for the usb adapter.

Thanks HT can open the utility file but the drivers 9X 2KXP still wont open saying they need PRISMIOC.vXD and PRISMA02.sys to open. plus the data2.cab files say either corrupt or unknown format

Try this:

Code:
http://www.actiontec.com/support/product_details.php?pid=52#soft

Its from the manufacturers website, contains an .iso image of the CD, so you can make another one to replace your lost CD :), drivers in zip format, and a configuration utility.

With the downloaded iso and the zip file, it would be easier if you opened it with 7zip file manager, opens almost anything, even iso's.

Download:

Code:
http://www.7-zip.org/download.html

You can download that program as the .exe itself or in a zip, but seeing as you already having problems opening a zip, just download the .exe and hopefully you will be good to go from there. :)

No, dont give up lol. Which of the files were you trying to open again, what are their formats, and what is your current operating system?

Hmm, what do you exactly mean by you cant open the files, is it where, your network adapter has been found, and your trying to direct the "found new hardware wizard" to the appropriate files, in this case one of them being ******.sys but the dialogue box is showing that you havent got no such file? (even when you can see it in its defaul location?)

I have loaded all the downloads onto a flash pen, put it in and tried to open the files called drivers.Problem is im trying to do this all on my pc and not the one my neighbour was tryin to set it up on. I downloaded the actiontec file. tried to open it then it said unzip with winzip ( which pc does not have) but it unzipped them to a files called 802UIG - that has 2 fiiles in - utility and driver, in the driver files is 2KXP and 9x - file 2KXP - AELUSWB2 ( security catalouge) then set up info, then PRISMA02 System file - ( has an icon with little coloured squares) X9 file - same files but then another file with 2 cogs and PRISMIOC.XPD (XPD in lower case) When i try to open the utility configeration it just comes up with winzip self extractor but not having winzip it wont unzip it

It probably does not help the fact that as i said the pc it was meant to be used on is not mine, and has no internet connection so therefore cant download anything to it, all has to be done on anothrer pc and stored on a drive.
I wonder if the best thing is to contact actiontec and just ask if they can send the disk saying ive lost it etc.

Right, so your going to put all the appropriate files onto the drive, and use them at your neighbours. Have you tried installing 7zip file manager on your PC, and extracting all the files onto your harddrive or removable storage, so when you visit your neighbours you will not have any problems opening zips, or iso's (image file).

yes thats what i did, but when i goto open the files on my pc and open the utility it still comes up that i dont have the correct programe to open the .XVP and .sys files. It unzipped the files to a file called 802uig as said earlier.

I must admit ive not managed to see my neighbour to try and put it all on her pc, but when i try to open any of it on mine it just wont have it.

Plus its hot n muggy etc here which dont help when you cant get things to work lol!
IVe told her its cheaper to go get a wireless usb from argos for like £20 that way at least she will have the disc with the drivers. Plus i dont think she wants me to put what she called load of cr*p on her pc

ID rather just bin the actiontec one lol - unless any of you can make use of it

Fair enough lol, they are cheap to buy now and really easy to set up anyway, and yes why bother yourself even more when the heat from the sun is already pushing you to your limits :)
