Hispasat-30W in Ireland

Hi Guys,

Just playing around with some options, do you know what size dish you would need to be able to receive HD channels on 30w in Ireland? A re-positioned Sly dish would hardly do the job?

Dishpointer.com suggests its possible to point a dish there from my area.

OK european beam will be ok on a 60 cm dish lots of spanish channels with english option eg Nat Geo TCM AMC also BBC Entertainment if you are desperate

Its more the Portuguese channels I am looking at, like Sports TV1. Brother in law is moving to Ireland from Portugal and just looking what options he has. He is a massive Benfica fan and wants to keep his live HD when he moves (bringing a sat box as far as I know!)

If I am reading right on dishpointer the issue is the elevation from my location?

28.2e for example is 39degrees while 30w is only 26 making it lower in the sky??

Your 26 elevation sounds correct, check it here http://www.hispasat.com/en/useful-information/point-your-antenna-at-hispasat
I have a 1M dish & the signal quality on most channels here is around 70 - 85%, the 5 TV SPORT HD channels are around 80%,
so much the same as I'm getting at 28E, try the 60cm dish & see,
if your brother in law is bringing his sat box with all the channels installed it will be easier to set up.
