Currently running wb6. Keep reading about the benefits of updating Open ATV to 6.1 for IPTV etc.

How do you update? If I do the update will I lose wb6....will I have to reflash that afterwards.

Is there really any point in updating?

Whoosh atv

You can wait for whoosh to do a 6.1

Or you can flash atv 6.1 your self
You might be able to take a system settings backup and transfer it to the update. The skin is about only standard none whoosh item that won't transfer
Easy install mind

backup settings and then flash 6.1 you will lose the WB plugins such as wb config and usb cam importer etc, you can reinstall the generally available plugins and the skins yourself. Or as @silver has said waid for Woosh to release WB6.1

what benefits have you heard?

General views from people are that their IPTV runs better, no freezing etc.......I personally cant see how this would be the case. 99% of the time I have no problem with my IPTV, freezes maybe once a week if that, I just thought I may give it a go changing to 6.1 and see wwhat happens.

last few days i have been thinking of doing the same have not decided yet tho.

So you don't not think it will improve but going to try

Then you might as well wait for whoosh to update

Do a complete backup image of your box, update to 6.1 and play, if not happy just flash from your back up and nothing lost.

If I try and decide to go back to wooshbuild I know where options to make a 1:1 backup. But just looking in WB settings can't find restore image option in WB only settings?

Just create a full image backup and then re-flash from that, this will then put WB back on etc.

Right going to upgrade tonight I need to uninstall openatv program updater then install ABM, crossepg, cacheflush

Anything else needed

The programme update is a default it will come back
you can stop the programupdater from coming back, i don't have it on my build, the same as enhanced media player or whatever it's called.

Leave the plugin installed and telnet to box and type the line below (this will stop the plugin from being updated during software updates):

Code:
opkg flag hold enigma2-plugin-extensions-programmlistenupdater

Now delete the plugin folder by typing (folder name may be wrong so check before doing this line) :

Code:
rm -rf /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/Programmlistenupdater

This removes the plugin. now exit telnet and restart gui

Basically the box still thinks the Plugin is installed but is in state of 'hold' (do not update) as it has not been removed from the OPKG database, but as the folder has been removed it will not attempt to load the plugin.

This is all getting confusing now...sorry....can someone explain what programmeupdater is?

This is why people shouldn't jump and ask questions in other people's threads
It just makes it confusing

If your in the UK you don't need to worry about the above app

Sorry dt99 for hijacking thread

Don't know what it does but I'm all videos watched it was removed lol

Don't apologise it's fine by me.....i was just interested in what it was. Next step is to flash 6.1 and see how we go. No doubt I will be back on here soon enough!
