Have recent thunderstorms killed my H2

Hi everyone, I have had a few problems recently with my H2, a bit of back ground info, if I pressed info button, that always crashes the box, I get a blue screen and sometimes the clock would freeze but tv fine but would not be able to change channels or reboot via remote.
A few days ago we had some really bad storms, thunder and lightening right over my house, during a close lightening flash, I noticed my router was dead and my Zgemma also, both on a surge protection extension and the tv was fine and no electric tripping.
I changed the power cable for the router but after they did a test they told me I need a new router, which I now have. I changed the power cable for my Zgemma and just the red light above the volume comes on, If I turn it on with a usb in it (as I would when reflashing) It wont even come on. I am no expert, I just think if the box wont even get to boot then I have no chance of resolving it, but I don't want to spend hours searching for the answer, I think you experts will say bin it, I just don't know what to do, plus the laptop I am using is borrowed for the day, I have had D boxes, sky box and now this one, as I said I can usually fix any issues by reading( a 3 and 5 year old puts paid to hours of searching) but I just think its broken beyond repair. Any advice would be helpful.

If you have already changed the power supply and still only get a red light then it's probable that the box is fried.
If a usb with openatv correct box version will not kick the box into life either then it's normally a new door stop !

bypass the extension cable and plug the zgemma directly into wall socket and see if it comes on, bit of a long shot but worth a try, also, why did you get a new power supply? - is it brand new or just one found in a drawer? - what Ampage is it?

I knew I was in trouble when It would not even turn on with the usb in it (it has atv open on it), a new router and box, its a expensive week, was just hoping I could save one out of the two, thank you for your help

Wonder if upgrading protection is needed, remember its not just the power that kills sat and cable and wired lans all have a way to destruction.

when I first went to the box it was dead, no light or anything, so I found a power lead in the draw, and plugged it into the wall, the ac dc adapter says 6v
the box will come on but only shows one red light above the volume but will not start to boot and as I said before if I try to start with a usb in the box then the red light wont even come on.

correct, you need 12v 3A supply, 6v is enough to light the led but that's all, some low quality 12v supplies aren't powerful enough to power the box

if your router/modem power supply is 12v, you can try that now to see if it boots the box up, obviously you can't use it like that as it needs the internet but it will tell you if the box is working or not

You are my new hero!!! I havnt found a 12v but searching around I found a ten volt, thought what the hell, and its working, well I have to plug it in the tv first but it has booted up and showing the time, I will ofcourse go and get the correct plug,

Thanks, you have sorted it, makes me think if that was the same problem for the router, anyway have a lovely evening, I will thanks to you.
