ABOUT TIME ( DITCH THOSE FIRE STICKS )

HD cinema blocked on my firestick. Just wondering any alternative app I can use to watch movies & tv series.
Plenty of other apps HERE
OnStream is okay too.
I use VivaTV, TeaTV & FilmPlus with T Player & Bear Player (for FilmPlus).
I've tried cloning CinemaHD but it freezes & doesn't open.
Try this version - CinemaHD-v3, It's works on my Firestick.

CinemaHD-v3 3.0.6 - Downloader code 9343840

Found one of my old generic android TV boxes today, an A95X F2, haven't used it for around 2/3 years. Stuck a slimboxTV Android TV ROM on it and up and running very quickly.

It's an Amlogic S905X2 device with 4Gig RAM, 32Gb storage. Fine for the apps I use, will not support 4k in official apps like iPlayer or prime, YouTube etc though, as not a certified device.

Plenty of life in old devices depending on which apps you want to use, you don't necessarily need to run out and buy new devices, especially if you have an old device with good custom ROM support.

I've acquired an old MXQ Pro 4k box that runs the amlogic S905. I think it runs on android 5.1.
It was bricked when I got it, I think someone was messing around trying to 'improve' it. The reset button does nothing.
Is it worthwhile trying to install the original firmware and get it running again given its old tech now.

Original S905 devices are pretty old now, likely to be sluggish and slow they normally had 1gb RAM, may also have issues with apps as well due to pretty old version of Android on these (you mentioned 5.1). It's worth a try though, nothing to lose by trying it out, considering you already have the device in hand, be interesting to see if it even flashes a new firmware if the reset button is broken. Flashing firmware usually involves holding the reset button then powering up the device to flash via SDcard or Amlogic burn tool and a USB cable.

First step will be to confirm exactly which variant of device you have, the generic boxes have various different combinations of CPU, WiFi chipset, RAM, Storage etc. You need to know the exact variant so you be confident you're using the correct firmware, I know someone who was using an original S905 device with 1Gb RAM up until a few months ago, it was still working but WiFi was terrible as it is on most of these devices , better to use wired ethernet.

Throw it in the bin mate you can get a decent device from china for under £30 that runs the latest android 14 system.

Thanks for the reply.

Going to treat this as a project and see if I can get it going. It came with a nice mini keyboard I can use with any future purchases.

The S905x5M Is not supported via Slimbox yet.

It will be, but as its a relatively new chipset they are probably awaiting box samples to work their magic on.

If i was you, id go with the Tanix TX5 Plus no malware and wait for the rom to be developed.
Just a quick update on this for anyone it may help, I ended up getting the Tanix TX5 Plus, flashed it with slimbox and using the project ivy launcher, great little device to be fair, think I prefer it to the FS now!
