120th US Open

Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood sit two strokes off the lead at the US Open after American Justin Thomas set the early pace at Winged Foot on Thursday.

Northern Ireland's McIlroy opened with a solid three-under-par 67 in New York, which was matched by English former world number one Lee Westwood.

Thomas birdied the 18th to go one clear of compatriot Patrick Reed at five under par after carding an opening 65.

Matthew Wolff takes a two-shot lead into the final round at Winged Foot as he looks to become the first debutant in 107 years to win the US Open.

The American, 21, had six birdies in a scintillating five-under 65 to improve to five under par overall in New York.
