50FPS content

More than likely it costs more for UK channels as it's harder to stream. Most us and international channels are already online at 50fps scripted.

The reason can be as what bazz has said. Another can be using low end devices or the supplier is fed up with complaints from end users about buffering. When it is the end users fault because they don't understand about bandwidth.

It is either 25fps 720p or; 25fps 1080p. E.U TV's run at 50hz so 25fps is half of 50hz

I notice no picture difference if I turn off ai upscailing on sheild. However if I turn it on I find foreign streams outside EU much better.

This is incorrect, UK channels are broadcast at 1080i (interlaced) which means each frame is split into two fields (every other line in the frame) and broadcast separately. What this means is the broadcast is still 50 frames per second but each frame is only half the picture which means half the bandwidth to the broadcaster.

Some IPTV suppliers wrongly think this is 25 frames per second which is why you get the juddering effect as every other field is missing.

Also the two main UK Satellite/Cable providers (Sky and Virgin) have now blocked card sharing - which is where most IPTV providers got their UK channels from - so they can now only rely on Sky/Virgin/BT's own IPTV platforms to re-stream the channels.

BT Sport's IPTV app streams at 1080p (which are the feeds with the solid white square at the top right of the picture) so IPTV providers can just re-stream "as is". Sky doesn't.

Hard to tell what is 25fps and 50fps streams.

I am sure there is a difference no doubt but I have not found it to be tbh.

If the the stream source is of good quality then whether its 25fps or anything else isn't an issue for me.

Never really notice unless I watch stuff on my buzz stick. As Ai is always on with sheild.

You guys cant tell diff on a 50fps and 25fps picture?? My eyes are shot but I cant certainly tell the diff ...50fps or then 60fps quality is way better...my provider had recently started showing ITV and sometimes BBC1 at 50fps and the diff is clear as day to me. As you say most US channels are already at the 50 or 60fps. Wish Sky Sports was. Has NOW TV now started the 50fps option as extra boost..

So many people mention the AI upscaling of the Shield ...is it really that good...better than let's say a latest TV that also has the 4k upscaling for IPTV??

have to agree that 50 or 60fps is way cleaner picture than the 25fps (especially when tracking ball movement). Without upscaling trickery a 720p/50 or 60 is much cleaner than 1080p/25 and whilst upscaling can do good job of increasing the pixel count to fill the gaps even the best cant really magic missing data.

There's a very noticeable improvement on the picture quality. Someone here said it makes the UK sports channels at 25fps almost as good as satellite FHD and having bought one I think that's a very good assessment.

horses for courses it seems, dont use upscaling (except whats built into samsung tv) and my wife always comments that the IPTV matches picture (50/60 fps) is so much sharper than freesat bbc hd / itv hd she watches
