Apple for easiness and comfort (been with them for about 10 years) but android for customisation and downloading things

Ease of use is a big one. I believe Apple is becoming slowly more customisable & adaptable to users needs/wants.

Apple for phones because they work really well and are reliable.
Android for media devices as they are customisable and third party apps use.

Yes even better now with the silicone chip, don't heat up and no fan noise either.
The first one i had was 4 years old when i replaced the battery.2 years after that still sold it for £350 and got an M2 version.
I have replaced my Android with two of the latest ATV boxes, nothing compares to them! Lightening fast no bloatware and simple to add different country IDs for instant app updates.
IPTV is smooth as snakeshit with most suppliers having an app!
Those without them will say no audio pass through and open source! But honestly the sound of Dolby Atmos and HDR picture quality is mind blowing.
My Shield is now used only for her indoors Vod!

No Crapple products in our house, all android phones with dual sim for daily use and travelling. All tv boxes in the house are android tv. I have an ipad at work, great battery life but i hate it. I choose not to want to learn how to use it.

Ye Apple TV is smooth as silk even better now with IPTV apps,VPN and i think even a Stremio equivalent.
Still have the Shield Pro for the dodgy stuff tho 🤣

Audio passthrough is rumoured for tvOS 26

Apple TV is pretty beautiful if you get to try one
I have seen image comparison and they are no different to a decent Android device.
Also Kodi on ATV doesn’t support
Dolby vision or HDR.
ATV also doesn’t support lossless audio pass through but as mentioned it is supposed to be available soon.

why one vs the other? you can have both. i got the first apple phone not long after it came out. i wanted a phone that would let me surf online a bit at work, looked at all the available models except the iphone and the guy in the store let me play with his and it was so intuitive and easy to use. but the price put me off buying straight away, but a bit of googling i found i could buy the phone and hacktivate it instead of signing up to apples contracts, i got a cheap sim deal with 02 and £100 cashback, phone was £179, so basically got it for £79 and when i upgraded to iphone 6 i got £200 for it. the apple stuff tends to hold value better. i considered android when it first came out and the first few years but it didn't really do much or anything i wanted that the iphone couldn't do, bar the SD card, but i was using various rockbox stuff, my ipod classic being one of them. i eventually got an android phone just to play music via SD card and now have an ex flagship android phone just for that use, so phonewise i have the best of both worlds. likewise i have ipad pro, had the first ipad with 3g before android tablets, had a few firetablets, windows tablets, laptops that fold into tablets, etc. when my first ipad got a bit slow etc i used a 10" fire tablet which was a decent alternative for the money, mainly to read pdf magazines, these days when out and about i've usually got a laptop so haven't used a tablet in a while. i used xbmc on a self hacked xbox in the early days, had a few other boxes before the android box boom, and now use a firestick 4k in one room and a nvidea sheild in another. mainly use kodi, no plugins, plus a number of the legit streaming apps. i've never had apple tv to compare, but basically have absolutely no need for one as what i've got does everything i need and want and the apple tv box does nothing at all my current devices don't do that i'd want. i have a VM streaming box too. but i like gadgets and see the new OS so was going to see how much a second hand one was, and see rumours that there's a new one due this year as they release them every 3 years and there's hints in code of a new one, which people reckon will be a much cheaper price to compete with firesticks. so i'm going to wait on that and maybe get the new one or the prices on old ones should drop so may do that instead and see what the fuss is about. if i get a new one i'll probably get a few months free ATV sub. i did see that ATV shows stream in a higher bitrate on ATV compered to other devices, so that's one small advantage, but i was mainly just going to get it to see what it's like, and my android devices all setup the way i like will probably be my main streamers

apple make some nice looking stuff, but i prefer windows to OSX/macos. i have a now broke macbook i got just to learn osx, but also play with dual boot and VMs and stuff. have been considering for a while getting a refurb macbook pro for a play about

likewise i got xbox and playstation and wii - don't game but got them anyways. i don't see the point of getting one (side) and sticking with it when you can have both or more options if you can afford them, and we aren't talking like the type of money that buys a car or a house, especially if buying second hand

so personally perfer ios for phone use, partly as i've used it the longest and i think the "just works" thing applies best to iphone and ipad. you just want to pick up a phone and do whatever instead of faffing around with settings, or at least i do and probably most do. if i want to play with settings and stuff and dodgy apps i can use the samsung. the ad's on firesticks or whatever don't bother me as i see them for a few seconds before loading the app i want to spend hours watching tv shows or movies. i just know i want X app to watch X show and that's that. i avoid certain official streaming apps that have loads of ad's. i'll just download to a seedbox without ads and watch that way instead with kodi

Jesus wept! Did you write all that 😂

Not saying the image is better but rather the look of the apps themselves

I agree with you. Each had there purpose but you can get the best of both worlds by having both. Appreciate the write up.
