Amazon to block ‘dodgy’ Fire TV Stick apps from TODAY in new major global piracy crackdown

FireoOS would need to access Amazon servers to pull OTA metadata and the app blacklist for it to remove or block a blacklisted app.
If you have blocked access to the Amazon servers then this can’t be executed.

That is assuming it is pulled from an amazon server and not somewhere else like ACE or whatever they are called.

Also, the firestick is briefly able to access its server at boot up until Adguard is loaded. You can test this after boot up...if you check for updates within seconds of boot up you will see that there are no errors i.e. it connects successfully to amazon server.

To combat that, access your router and input the Amazon domains in firewall filtering settings. Although if you block ||Amazon.com^ none of your none fire TV devices will connect to any Amazon website, app, etc. so, best of using the domains mentioned, which are there to stop updates only.

Yes I noticed that myself. Does the update even matter though? once it's up and running theres no traffic between Amazon and the firestick. Surely they would need to be able to access your firestick to block a 3rd party app.

Amazon can still access their server briefly after bootup so they could still blacklist in this period.

I definitely think they would keep it in house and use their own servers.
The only way to surely block would be at the router.
But then you would need a router that has the capabilities and features.
Wait and see what apps actually make the list and are blocked then if all else fails just buy a different device.
It’s just another Amazon hoop they asking you to jump through.

There is : I've taken the liberty to copy it below :: @inadayswork made the original post

"........Ok, so I got a little guide for the above. Does come with some caveats, though.

1. This won't work with a VPN running, but might do with some tweaks to the VPN settings if available.

2. Amazon music or any other Amazon app will not work, other than Prime Video

3. You won't be able to install apps from Amazon app store, but you can do via Aptoide or another 3rd party app store.

Setup guide

Via downloader install these 2x apps if you haven't already got them

1. Adguard - Adguard_v3.6.54_mod_apkdone.com.apk

2. Aptoide (replacement app store) - aptoide-latest.apk

3. Once installed open Adguard app

4. Turn protection on

5. Go top left to the 3 lines and click on settings

6. Click on Content blocking. Make sure everything is on & create local vpn

7. At the bottom, user rules, open that

8. Turn on

9. Click on + bottom right

10. Type in ||amazon.com^

11. Click save

12. Go to settings - general. Make sure auto start is enabled. By default it should be

13. Before you exit make sure protection is enabled

14. Once you exit, go to my Fire tv

15. Click on About

16. Click on Check for updates

17. After a short while you will get a message saying "update error".

That's it, and in theory a permanent fix to stop updates coming through......."

Go into settings in stick. Go to my fire TV.
Press about 7 times. You will now be a developer. Go to developer options. Allow downloader to install unknown apps.then download Adguard. Here's a shortcut.

Enter the above numbers in downloader.

Yes great on here for members who can have discussion, normal fiestick user does not have access to this info most will have an app installed from someone they know who may have set them up with an iptv account through someone they know and not even resellers themselves ,

I can just imagine trying to explain to normal person.
personaly better just getting new device and getting their friend or what ever to install on to that device. There are more thane enough alternatves one around the same cost.
