Android E-Box wifi issue

Hi, I have one of these boxes and i'm quite impressed with it, apart from the wifi. I think it is faulty, but just wondered if anyone had any suggestions to improve it? It lags a lot. I've tried it next to the router, instead of the bedroom where it usually lives and it is still the same. Once i can connect via ethernet, it works perfectly, smooth, quick etc. I can't use ethernet upstairs, though.

Is it faulty or can i improve it?

Hi mate I've seen several boxes fail pretty bad on the wifi side..I've seen some not even pick up the wifi.if you can splash the cash go for tp links or better known as home plug's that's what I use for my android box and my zgemma box much stronger signal and no dropping off. hope that somewhat helps.

This is an issue with most android boxes the WiFi module tends to be cheap & nasty, some work better when closer to the router others are poor no matter what.

I would try looking at a newer android box with dual band wifi as using the 5ghz frequency can improve the signal strength massively so long as your router is also dual band 2.4ghz & 5ghz

Other than that connect via Ethernet straight to the router or via home plugs as neaf mentioned.

TP links make all sorts of adapters, not just homeplugs, so make sure you select the correct option that suits you ! you can get one that connects direct to your android via Ethernet, then connects to your router by wifi - some homeplugs require two plugs (they will come as a pair) and transmit through the eath wire in the house (I think) - perfectly safe though so don't be too concerned

I previously used an older type sky box wifi connector for 'stuf' and never had a problem

by far the best option, I don't know whether you cold fit a wall socket type rj45 double outlet (assuming you have two devices to hard wire in?) you could have one turned off when not using it or one device might only use a little bit of your available 'internet' to be able to operate them both at the same time. not sure whether it would work, perhaps someone can offer some advice on using two devices on a shared hard wired supply?

Easiest way i found to get a stable ethernet connection upstairs was to buy a ethernet switch, you can buy a 5 port one on amazon for less than £10 https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-LINK-TL...=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1479038222&sr=1-9&th=1 Once you have it all you have to do is buy a ethernet cable long enough to reach where you want it to go, connect one end to your router & the other to the ethernet switch upstairs, then you can connect up to 4 devices via ethernet upstairs using the ethernet switch.
