Brand New (£39.99) Amazon Fire Stick 4K Max & latest exploit hack

Hi all. Just for everyone's info, I just bought a Fire TV stick 4k Max and once activated I install the latest hack and update on it. Works great, so even a brand new stick does NOT have the OS on it patched for this hack.

At £39.99 it was too good to miss. Unfortunately my two older sticks only have OS v 6.x.x on which isn't compatible with the exploit.

I think you may be getting ahead of yourself as nothing has changed re the existing range of sticks................

The new OS is not being rolled out on the older devices so the older devices (even when purchased new) will still be fine for at least a year or so!

It's only the NEW 4K Select firestick model (on pre order being delivered from 14/10) at the moment which has the new OS.

Interested in learning more about the 'latest exploit hack' you refer to though?? Feel free to PM me if you want to keep it a secret :)

There are rumours they are going to add to existing sticks a well. Which in reality wouldn't be too difficult

Please share source? I can't see them rolling out a full OS via updates on existing devices.

Most online reports state something along the lines of:

'Speaking of existing Fire TVs, they will all continue to use the Android-based Fire OS and receive software updates. None of the existing Fire TVs will be updated to Vega OS. More so, Amazon has explicitly stated that it still plans to release new Fire TV devices that run its Android-based Fire OS. For the time being, Vega OS is an alternate option, and Amazon has said that Fire OS is not going away. There is a new Android 14-based OS that Amazon is working on, which has not yet been released.'

Rolling out of the Linux OS is of course another issue entirely and not what this post is about. The clever thing about this current exploit hack for 7.xxx/8.xxx firmwares is that not only does it stop Amazon preventing us running those certain apps that they don't like, it completely prevents Amazon from ever rolling out a further firmware update to the device, so our devices are "safe", so we can use them as we wish and not how Amazon would like. The beauty of this hack is that its not just a work around that allows us to run a custom launcher, it allows us to (1) Replace the Amazon launcher with one of our choosing and (2) to completely block all future firmware updates.

Just in case you're missing the links, Here are the two videos on Youtube from Troypoint.

They would not risk it imo and they know that all the apps that are currently available on amazon playstore may not be available for the new Vega OS.
It only takes a couple of app developer not to create their existing android apps for Vega OS and users could use this as leverage and ask for a refund as it would not be fit for purpose.

I would also like to see the source that implies that they are going to change the OS on existing Amazon devices but I have a feeling it doesn’t exist.

If it is anything like Roku OS it will be difficult they basically lock it down it is a hassle to get the odd one to work
