edit: i would also like to know if i bought this could i put windows 7 in it as windows 8.1 looks a right mess to me , i have the key of my current pc , could i use that ?

Hi yes you can put on windows 7,there are loads of places to get a preactivated version or just install a genuine copy and use a bit of kit called "remove wat"
You wont be able to use your excising key
Alternatively just use windows 8.1 and install a win 8 start button from places like iobit and then 8 runs like 7.
Win 8.1 is so much better now than it was on release

so , with this calssic shell will it get rid of the "tiled" start screen & just be like the windows 7 i have now ?

Yes installing a windows start button from iobit I say from here as its free and what I use..will give you same start layout as win 7..it will boot straight to desktop instead of metro tiles...
you basically have a win 7 layout with the added speed of 8.

cheers mate, don't suppose you know the difference between a

  • Intel Celeron quad core.
  • J1900.
    & a
  • Intel® Pentium® Processor J2900
sorry for picking your brains, i don't have a clue about processors etc ;) lol

They are much of the same ones just newer generation..contrary to what been said a windows 32 bit PC can only use a max of 3gb ram..no matter what anyone says anything over 3 gb is pointless..When it comes to a balance of cost and performance, 4GB is just about perfect,In every day computing, you probably won’t ever come close to filling it all up.

also if you have a 1TB drive I doubt there is any need for additional drives for your usage.

well like i say i dont use the pc like i used to, i was a" prolific uploader" when i had my forums according to vermin lol, now only browse, the pc i have now only has 250 hd but i have a 500 external & come no where near to filling the 250 , only use the 500 to copy pics etc just incase it goes down, this looks ok for the cash , thing is it was from pc world for £350 , now i seen the same in argos for £300 but only a 4gb ram but it comes with a 21" monitor, so im thinking i should just buy the one from argos, buy some ram ( probably work out the same price ) & i get a monitor free ;) i would be lost with only 1 monitor now
