my pc is a 1TB split between C & D drive. The C drive is full and D drive is empty. they are 458GB in size.

Can i change the size of these drives and move the C drive to make it larger, or are there files i can move to the D drive to give me some space. I have no idea why i have used it all up or how to tell what is what. there are no sizes on the files
any of you guys help me and explain if there is anything you can see i can either delete or move to other drive

I have a program called "Treesize" that shows you exactly how the space on your HDD is being used. Might be worth having a look at that to see whats taking up so much space.

wow! thanks for that i now have space! i had files/folders that i thought i had deleted ( maybe because i could not find them)

I still have the question of what all the files are with letter numbers like this file for instance : C:\8fb3b62a1a13ad810893bc7d561abc87 when you hover over some say file is empty but when you open file it says MRT.exe its an application last modified 2011 and size is 50,952KB. All other files with similar name are same all MRT.exe ( what ever that is)
So as i have no ida what they are not sure if i can move the likes of them over to the empty D: drive

Files and folders with a long mixture of alpha and numeric characters are normally associated with security software.

The MRT.exe is belonging to Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool.

downloads, media files and all backups can all be moved to the D drive whick may free up a lot of space without having to resize the partitions. Also delete all temp files etc.

Ah cool thanks for that, so i can move say all photos & music to it?? That will give me a lot of free space on the C drive

My external hd is also full will have to take a look at that as that is a 1TB must be stuff on there i can dispose of
