GrogBuild Can't record on any device or slot

H7C running GBFR on openatv 6.4.
The box has three usb ports at the back, two normal ones and a USB3 port.
I have three X 32gb SanDisk cruzer sticks and a few generic 4gb usb sticks.

I've tried all sticks in all the ports and cannot record anything.
I've initialised them and tried recording, all fail.
I've initialised and mounted them all and they all fail.
Every time it fails it gives the same message, 'disk is not writable'.
I've been into recording & timeshift menu and checked destination and get the message 'can't write to media/HDD/movie
Please select a writable location'

What's all this about then?

What format is the recording media and is it set as R/W?

There were some issues lately with ViX requiring it to be formatted as ext4. Maybe ATV have the same changes?

Its set as R/W yes.
Not sure about ext4 but will check.
Another weird thing is whenever I set a stick up for recording, initialise, mount and set a recording, after its failed to record, the box doesn't recognise the usb is there and I have to do the same again.
Trying different sticks in different ports has the same outcome?
Do you think it could be the usb ports on the box?

Does it ask where recording is suppose to go if checking all usb ports.

What make of usb sticks have you tried.

Yes it defaults to media/HDD/movie but this is not R/W when I try to record.
Does your pc/laptop pickup the sticks if you format them.
Not tried yet but will run @Willo3092 bootice prog and see if that helps.
One if the SanDisk is fairly new, only a few months old

Knocked it on the head, set it on 'perform quick wipe' but it's just the same with continuous errors so think this stick's ready for the skip.
I'll try the second Cruzer in a bit

I'm not sure the Cruzer is any good, it doesn't seem to be formatting.
It works on pc, if I send a video or pictures to it, eject and put it back in I can access the content but formatting is failing and E2 box doesn't see them

Quick wipe is no good need to do the full low level format
