A coroner has warned of the dangers of headshop drugs after opening an inquest into the death of a 19-year-old woman, which he said was caused by taking so-called legal highs in combination with other drugs.
Headshops Coroner warning
Kildare Coroner's Court heard that the woman died last November after taking a combination of prescription drugs, heroin and the so-called legal highs mephodrone and butilon.
The Coroner, Dr Denis Cusack, said her tragic death was a warning to people who take so-called legal highs available from headshops of the very clear dangers of these substances.
Dr Cusack adjourned the inquest pending an ongoing criminal investigation.
