Results can vary from different companies. Try and test a few, also having a decent 3rd party router helps keep the speed of your connection up.

Ive never used a VPN but ive just brought avast for my pc for a geo restricted service and it throttles my speed and pings are over 100ms so as above test before buying

Before you go down the vpn route make sure your iptv provider supports it.

I have a lynksys flashed with dd-wrt with PIA configured so all traffic in my house goes through vpn tunnel. 2 of my providers for iptv do not work :-(

Just to echo 2 of the above posts. I use PIA and it is great, really helpful guides on the website for set up on Enigma and apps for Windows/Android. I'd never used a VPN prior to this subscription but it is all really simple to install and I don't notice that my traffic is going through it (Pings sometime below 30ms in Europe).

And also as Slyuser mentions, check your IPTV, One of my subscriptions doesn't work when I have OpenVPN turned on on my Enigma Box, the other is fine though.
