Does a splitter cause any issues to your internet?

If i use a splitter for my router for a zgemma h2.h (to receive cable channels) and our internet data plan monthly is 50 mb/s, will this be reduced since i am using a splitter or will it be the same?

I'm with VM broadband & used to get just over 50mb/s averagely before splitting. I bought a 3-way splitter from an eBay guy, recommended by Cactikid, & now speed tests show I'm pretty much getting the same speeds - maybe very slightly lower but hardly noticeable unless doing a speed test.
