Edision OS MINI Plus or Zgemma H5

Thank you for your views, very interesting, I already have zgemma h2h it's a good receiver, I think the picture quality can be a bit better. I was thinking of buying zgemma h5 because h.265 I believe Edision OS MINI+ Plus 1x DVB-S2/T2/C H.265 HEVC Linux Enigma 2 Digital Receiver HD 1080p PVR is twin tuner cable and satellite like zgemma h2h. Please correct me if im wrong.

Budget is not an issue, I was also thinking of vu+ 4k is it worth spending extra cash or is it a waste of money? basically i am looking for a better picture quality receiver.
Whats the picture quality zgemma h5 compared with Edision OS MINI+?

There are 2 sockets on the back, one for cable and one for satellite but they both go into a single tuner.
This tuner will then switch automatically between cable and satellite depending on which channel you choose.

Technical features:

- Type: Digital Combo receiver LINUX DVB-S2/T2/C, Full HD H.265 HEVC
- 1 x Tuner DVB-S2/T2/C

I have the same tuner on my OS Mega.
It won't give you the functionality of having 2 tuners so you can watch one and record another unless they're on the same transponder.
You can get 2 separate tuners on the standard OS mini for the same price I think.

The zgemma range grew in popularity very quickly mainly because of price & support on Techkings as already stated by others but the edi was mostly overlooked until a few members bought them to compare as they were only around £20 more than zgemma at the time, reviews followed on here & the edi started to gain pace against the zgemma's. The general consensus is that the Edi is the box to buy out of the two but as the zgemma has so many backup builds & premium support on here the vast majority of new member’s head straight for the zgemma section.
I’ve used both zgemma’s & edision & rate them highly in terms of function over price although I do prefer the edision mini combo over the H2H as it just seems to work providing less trouble/issues on the cable side.
At the end of the day it’s all personal choice:
be a sheep & go zgemma
be informed & go edision
be fully informed & dig a little deeper in your pocket to buy a higher grade box.
To be fair, I bought my ZGemma H2S box, simply because I was told it was the box to buy. I never even knew the Edi boxes existed until just, but despite looking it just seems the evidence is flakey right now. Would I have paid more for the Edi box if I'd known they existed? Maybe.... all depends really on what I'd read. I'd have done more research though. Too late now, Zgemma sits in my front room. I'm interested though, not because of buyers remorse, but more because I consider these boxes to be disposable items in the most part. In 12 months time, I fully expect the ZGemma to be on its last legs, and therefore when it goes bang, which it inevitably will, I'll be in the market for a new one. If the Edi box is the box to buy, that's the one I'll go for. What I'm more keen to see is proper evidence to prove the difference, although empirical evidence is useful of course. The Edi box may well be the one I go for by this point.

No one here has to convince you of anything Stoke we are just trying to help answer your question from experiences:

Zegemmas are a cheap box and generally seen as the starting block
The Edision OS Mini is a little better but cost a little more.
and so it goes on..

I wouldn't want either in my front room personally, I paid about £250 for the box I am happy with.

Your budget will be the limiting factor here
Any specific reason? Don't think either box looks too bad. YouView boxes look worse :D

Edision OS MINI 1x DVB-C/T2 + 1x DVB-S/S2 Linux Enigma £99
Zgemma Star H5 FTA Two Tuner, SAT + Cable / T £98

Edision OS Mini plus single tuner, 4k, drawbacks with a single tuner was posted above.

As mentioned earlier the price difference was originally about £20 now it's a quid lol

Zgemma have been creeping up their prices over the last 12-18 months.

Well, they do like to look after their customers by bringing out new boxes on a regular basis lol

Picture quality out is only as good as the signal in.

So as there isn't any 4K content available from an ordinary sky UK subscription,
if you aren't streaming it in, it's next to useless at the moment.

Personally, I would go for the Edision

its hard to say one is better than the other as both boxes perform well for the price although Edi is fully supported by VIX so if your a vix man then this alone may swing your decision.
its a bit like splitting hairs as they are so close but the Edision or Edi as I call it has a couple of extra features but picture, boot speed & overall usage are about the same.
As for your new zgemma going pop in a year or so you will be suprised as they just keep on going regardless of how often you flash/mess with them, either box is a good starting point as an enigma2 twin tuner

No one is suggesting zgemma's will only last 12 months.
It's being pointed out that there is a 2 year warranty on other brands.

I probably will have to order one tonight, im not too bothered about the recording, the Edision OS MINI+ any other disadvantages apart from recording? isn't it better receiver with twin tuners? any seller you can recommend that is selling this Edision OS MINI+? please send a private message for sellers link.

I'm always keen to be proven wrong. I never expect a device that cost as little as I paid to last more than a year. People put too much emphasis on longevity, but when a box is this cheap, meh, if it lasts for 12 months, it's a lot less than a Sly sub.

Hi, I went for Edision OS MINI+ just to try a different model, theres not much difference to zgemma h2h, might be a little faster, picture quality also might be a bit better, but it has some set backs, the remote control buttons sometimes have to be pressed twice,
it also has same codes as my cctv Jovision DVR, everytime i press a button on the remote control it also operates the DVR so i have to keep that covered on the front,
the power adapter comes in two parts i plugged it in it started sparking, then when i had a close look, there was a screw which needed tightening up so there is no loose connections,
cost me £105 with delivery, h5 is about £98 with delivery.
Im still getting used to it, i'll see how it goes, if i have to buy another one i would try zgemma h5.
Thank you for your replies they have been very helpful.
