Hi can someone tell me the difference between EPG and Cross EPG. Also I have read that I should have a permanent USB hardrive plugged in for the EPG, but I don't understand as if I don't have the hardware plugged in I still get the channel list and EPG information, so if the hardware really necessary?. Also I have read that I should set a schedule update for the EPG for eg every day at 4AM, is this really necessary?

Thanks in advance

If you dont have a hard drive for you epg to download to This will go to your internal drive eventually filling it up and when it is full your box will no longer work It is advised you get a usb min 4gb for the sake of a few quid may save you money in the long run
It is up to you what time you set for epg Daily ,weekly Any changes that happen can be picked up on daily

Speaking of Epg/Cross Epg. Recently mines has been playing up. Each time I try to download cross epg it says something like cross epg database error and reboots. Any suggestions?

If using this box with UK cable only, then most images do have native VM EPG in them now. Just using the box on any channel with load 12 Hours EPG and tuning to the default or EPG transponder will load 7 Days data. (I tune to VM previews channel 100. The data is stored in RAM and usually saves to flash on a graceful restart or if the Auto save EPG is set. They have enough flash to save the data to flash rather than a USB, especially if only using the built-in VM EPG rather than CrossEPG.
