Epg and pause/record?

Hi all. I have an IPTV sub with someone via Xreamtv... Was just wondering if there's a way of getting a better epg set up? If there's a file to use out there or am I just dependent on my supplier coming up with something? It has the epg for what channel you've selected atm but wanted ideally something like the skyq skin like on my old zgamma box.... Is there anything out ther similar? And also is there anyway to pause/record with iptv using a zgamma box?

Being able to enjoy a full EPG is dependent on your provider.

You can still use the slyQ skin to enjoy a full working EPG, but as stated numerous times on here, if your supplier does not provide you an EPG, you will have to create one yourself using the likes of eChanneliser. It is relatively easy if you follow the instructions (mentioned in other posts - just google or search on here) and/or watch the videos on youtube.

May sound like a silly question but have you initialised and mounted your HDD?

If you have, and recording/pausing works on FTA channels but doesn't on IPTV, then your supplier may not allow it as some suppliers are of the belief that recording a station is a type of multi-room (?!) and you therefore need an additional sub to enjoy that privilege. Hate to say this, but if that is the case, then I would strongly recommend a different supplier who can allow you this facility as well as hopefully providing you with a decent and workable EPG.

Oh, almost forgot... yes you can record and pause iptv using a zgemma box.

Hi Chris, i have a new Zgemma H.2S running Wooshbuild V6 with a sub, can you please explain how to record programs on IPTV such as Sky one for example, i have tried but it records for about 40-60 seconds then the picture would freeze and thats it, it will show up in the file list as recorded for 1 minute, the box still tinks its recording as if you go in 10 minutes laters (1 min showing) and stop it it will asked "stop recording" also in the epg that station will have red writing, what am i doing wrong, thanks for any help.

Recording IPTV is still a bit iffy and unpredictable. I believe there is a recording issue with some providers (see above).

I have tested mine over the past week. Some recordings simply have not recorded; others a little bit before stopping. I was under the impression that you could only record an iptv channel if you were actually on it. Then, earlier yesterday using my EPG I timed-recorded (using the usual REC button under the red button) a football match on Eurosport HD but forgot to change it to the correct channel. In fact, my H.2S was in stand-by mode. Hours later, I remembered this and was kicking myself as I forgot to turn my box off standby and stick it on the correct channel. However, when I went on my Filelist/planner to delete my recording (expecting it to say "0 mins") it recorded the entire match! I absolutely have no idea how it happened. I was unaware that the H.2S could change and record the right channel for you (I obviously knew the box could do this on FTA and the old CS channels but not for IPTV).

Now knowing this, I tested it again early this morning auto-timing two movies on IPTV at different times whilst leaving the box in standby mode. Tried them both this morning and they both worked, much to my amazement.

I find that for some unknown reason, if you stick the IPTV channel you wish to record and leave it on there, it freezes just as the record facility begins. Now, you may be lucky to record the first few minutes but then it stops. The minute you change channel whilst recording, it stops. If you playback the channel that you are currently recording, it stops! At the moment, all I can suggest is that you try recording a short programme on an iptv channel but stick your h.2s on standby. See if that works. I would even go further and suggest switching to a FTA channel first. It will be interesting to see if your box is able to automatically switch over to an iptv channel you have auto-timed. Then, look to see if your box has recorded the programme in its entirety.

Hi Chris. Did you have any luck with the recording issue?

Just read something from a provider that they have blocked the recording facility due to "copyright infringement"! I have no idea if you have that supplier in question but can imagine that if you are still experiencing the recording issue, then perhaps you are with that provider.

My guess is that if one server or provider can prevent you recording, then others will follow... which is not good news for the future of boxes that offer the recording feature such as the H.2S.
