Explained: Apple iTunes LP Format

At the recent Apple event we heard briefly about Apple’s new iTunes LP which was introduced at along with iTunes 9, basically buying an iTunes LP is like buying a “deluxe album”, the audio will be in high-quality 256kbps AAC format, along with this albums will come with photos, visualizers, videos and interviews.

When you download an iTunes LP it will download the audio along with a large (depending on particular LP) .ITLP file, when you then choose the iTunes LP in iTunes it opens a WebKit interface, then you enter a a visual interface where you can see various things including lyrics, photos and videos.

If you would like to see a detailed look into iTunes LP check out JayRobinson.org’s fully detailed article, the article also shows a range of screen-shots.
