External player for vod iptv

Hi I have iptv on a zgemma s2 with a sub but the vod section is very temperamental sometimes it plays and sometimes not and it just freezes and I have to switch it off I have the latest wooshbuild installed and it runs pretty smooth apart from the vod as I mentioned.
I think it is the built in player causing the problem and just wondered if there is a way to get the vod to play through another external player any help much appreciated thanks.

Never had a problem with the built in player, making me think its possibly your provider.
The VOD is probably on a different server from the IPTV - do they have a forum or Facebook page you can ask on?
 
Hi mate thanks for the reply my provider was the first thing I thought of but he says there is no problems on his side and no one else is having problems so I can only take him at his word.

Don't think there is a forum for him or a facebook page but the reason I think it's the player is because I have the siptv app upstairs and that plays fine with vlc so it would be helpful if anyone knew how to set up an external player so I could try it to see if it was any better thanks.
 
Install Service App from pulgin-system plugins
Change player to exteplayer3

See how this runs

Also make sure you iptv is runing on correct output .ts
 
The only thing with exteplayer3 is that you will find the EPG importer doesn't seem to run. I initially thought it was still working, but I soon discovered that every time I wanted EPG importer to run I had to change the player back or my EPG didn't update.
 
Hi tkveteran that sounds like alot of hassle because the epg updates every day.

Also make sure you iptv is runing on correct output .ts what do you mean by running on correct output eamondo could you explain that further please mate.
 
yes gibbsy. when you get your m3u from your provider their server will have a choice of output for your channel either .ts(more frequent and stable) or HLS which is usually .m3u8 at the end. you need to also ensure that the e2 feed or script is running on the new iptv setting provided by xtream in the lats few weeks. play about with these setting get the one that works best.
 
Hi eamondo I just checked my script and the last part of the script is iptscript2.py so none of the ones you mentioned Eg .ts or hls.

I'm not very clued up on iptv so could you explain what you mean by running on the new iptv setting by xtream what is xtream is that the name of the player and if it is what about what tkveteran said before about changing the player that if you change players it won't update the epg daily so I will have to keep switching between players to get my updates thanks.
 
All depends on your provider to be honest as they have provided you with script. Ask them what format your channels are on mpegts or HLS
Most likely mpeg also there is a setting to change the setting with xtream but again thats depending on whether or not your provider is using xtream best challenge these guys and ask them for answers that why you need a good provider for support and guidance. On these matters
