Fault with tuner B?

Hi, One of my friends has a Edision Mini OS (sat twin tuner) running OpenATV which I think has a fault.

Every morning when he switches it on from standby it crashes/restarts (no crash report)

I have a sneaky suspicion the epg and abm downloads are causing it (they are set for overnight downloads). So I run a scan on both tuners (one at a time) with the same coax. First tuner A which found about 950-1,000 channels, then when I try tuner B (with the same coax just moved across) it only finds about 30 or 40.

I sent the unit back where I bought it who promptly returned it to me saying there is no fault!

I'm stumped!

Any ideas?

try recording different channels to see if your tuner b will record them ok... obviously play 1 channel and record a different channel so that tuner b is being used to record

You can set a tuner to be the preferred tuner for recording. Wouldn't advise having it set that way normally but it could be worth putting that to tuner A (or B) just to test the other tuner.

Thanks for the replies

It seems to record other channels OK
Moved back to Vix again and it seems OK for now. I know its not the image because Iv'e gone from Vix to ATV thinking that might cure it

Testing now, if it continues I will tell him to get his LNB/dish looked at.

but I cant see how its the dish lnb if you tried the same cable in tuner a and it found all the channels and then moved the same cable to tuner b and it only found 40 channels.. it has to be something on the box ..

I know I am starting to doubt myself as none of it adds up. Maybe I didn't have the settings to single satellite when I tested tuner B?

Just hope that it behaves now it's had a fresh install of Vix, not had a phone call so far today lol
