I've been playing around with kodi on my laptop and now want to make it portable do I can swap it between rooms.

Which would be better to install it on to a fire stick or Now TV, and how easy is it to install onto either of them.

Now tv is currently 12.99 in argos so if I can install on that then if someone coukd show me how I'd be very grateful

Don't think you can use a Now TV box for Kodi. You can install Plex,that's about all you can do with them at the moment. Never used a Fire stick,so can't help with that i'm afraid.

Plex is easy to install on a Now TV box. But you'll need to sub to a Plex server to get any content. Thay vary in price depending on what you're after.
 
ive got both, if i was you i would get the firestick, you can put kodi and firestarter on with your pc, its quite simple to do.
 
i have both dont use either

kodi on firestick felt stuttery
plex server was about £100-£150 a year and still sky sports would go missing
for 150 i can get 2 zgemma 2s, harddrives and nlines for sky

next experiment is mag250 iptv sub :O
kids use plex to stream all my movie i bought and then spent hours ripping and putting onto a hard drive ROFL
 
I have an open box with a cline that I got for 59$ that is in the front room, does anyone know a good epg for it as it's annoying not knowing what's on now/next.

I find the open box better for tv but it doesn't have bein and 3pm kick offs but premier league pass on laptop has that so I can live with that :D.

My fire stick only has genesis, phoenix and vdubt25 on it so it runs ok atm.

Format a USB to fat 32 place in back of box then menu/ system settings/ EPG and time settings/ switch from satellite to internet XMLTV on default setting/ go down to XMLTV setting ok / switch UK to auto press. Red button on remote It will then download to USB
 
i was gonna try the firestick & s/l kodi, i have kodi on my pc upstairs so anything i want to see i just cast to the tv , will give it a miss, ( although have to stop myself buying one as its only 35 quid lol)
 
As a few have said amazon stick all day. kodi runs like a dream on it. Done a few for a few mates and they're well pleased with it. Once you get kodi up and running install theblackbox mod. It is a custom build and is as they say, the dogs bollocks. :yes!:

One thing the tutorial doesnt mention though, once you install theblackbox mod turn off auto updates in kodi via the left hand menu. You can manaully update addons one by one but dont update the IPTV stalker addon.
 
Hi I'm new on here and am looking to buy something as gifts. Has to be easy to use which would be better a fire stick or android tv box. Ease of use is the important part and obviously it has to do the job. Thanks

You realise that gifts and web fire stick / android TV are two completely different things ?

You realise that gifts and web fire stick / android TV are two completely different things ?

I think in this instance he probably means actual gifts ( presents ). Could be wrong though lol
To answer the question, you can buy a basic android box for £30, the performance isnt amazing but theyre normally supplied preloaded with kodi.
Personally though id pay the £34.99 for the Amazon fire tv stick. It's a little tricky to install kodi but not too much.
The performance of the tv stick is way better than any of the android boxes.

Yes you were right (presents) is what I mean. Quite surprised that the fire stick is the better option. Thought that the quad core android box would be the more reliable but fire stick easier to use.

Ah, fire stick dead simple to set up and the Kodi speed in menus, etc is the same as my i5 based windows PC. The only thing to be wary of is that you are advised to block amazon updates which means a change to your router, oh and there is no stop button on the remote but if you are going to use it extensively then get a mini bluetooth keyboard for example TeckNet X340 Mini which can be found for under £15.

Should mention that if you have a Amazon prime subscription then obviously you get access to movies, TV shows and music as well. I found the picture quality on the fire stick for amazon streaming to be better then when I streamed amazon to a PC.
 
I went with the fire stick and can't fault it, films run smoothly as does the sport. There's a fair few apps for the kids as well, they enjoy UK TV, redbull tv to name two.

In fact they enjoy it so much it's now in their room and I cast stuff off kodi to my smart tv lol.
