Our main 4k stick works perfect but the older second gen from the backroom only plays some vod and boxsets, switching from vlc or exo doesnt help. Its xciptv genuine app. Updated, reset firestick, to no avail.

Is this simply a compatibility error with newer content/codecs.

No fix apart from a new stick?

If you do go for a new stick stay away from amazon devices due to the app blocks they are enabling and go for an android Tv one instead.
 
No there must be an issue with certain sony android tvs, i have a few friends in the same situation and v7 not working. One of them is a new tv. The app installs and series works but no live tv or vod plays, yet v5 plays everything. Have toggled between VLC/EXO. Little else you can change settings wise

Just out of luck i managed to see a v5 working fine.

Ive found a apk on apkmirror.com

Is it a safe place to get apps, hopefully will be compatible on the firestick, it installed ok on my android phone but gave a message this app may harm your device
