A deal must be made by tonight on the TV rights to Ireland's return leg against France in Paris -- or else Irish fans will face a broadcasting blackout.
There were reports that RTE, SKY and the French Football Federation (FFF) were nearing an agreement late last night -- but the clock is ticking.

It now looks as if RTE and SKY have joined forces to gain a deal, and it has emerged that the €600,000 offer that was rejected by the French was a joint offer. It is understood the FFF were holding out for closer to €1.5m

BBC and Eurosport are believed to be willing to pencil an offer should RTE and SKY fail to reach a deal.

Meanwhile, Sportfive, the agency which is conducting the negotiations on behalf of the FFF, have stated that no radio deal has been made either, which may mean that Irish fans will be cut off completely.

Thats weird noely cos RTE radio are already advertising it for sure I found out earlier! The chancers! lol
And Eurosport are already listing it and showing it on four of their channels in Europe but it also seems it's something written into the EU directive that was made a year or 2 ago that if Sky buy any rights to national matches they have to give the rights (or sell at a tiny price) to the national broadcasters to broadcast simultainiously with themselves! Masterstroke!

According to liveonsat this afternoon, both Rte2 and Sky1 have it advertised to show it :)
Just confirmed on the RTE Website!....

RTÉ has secured the rights to broadcast the second leg of Ireland's World Cup play-off against France in Paris tomorrow night.

RTÉ will broadcast the match on television, radio and online - within the Republic of Ireland.

The breakthrough came after days of negotiations between television companies and the French Football Federation.

RTÉ's Group Head of Sport Glen Killane said he was delighted with the news.

Keane: 'Don't Leave Pitch with any Regrets'

KEANE RALLIES IRISH TROOPS

France v Republic of Ireland To Qualify: Ireland 7/1

Robbie Keane has challenged his Republic of Ireland team-mates to come off the pitch at the Stade de France with no regrets.

The Republic face a make-or-break World Cup play-off decider against Raymond Domenech's star-studded French team, who left Croke Park on Saturday night with a precious 1-0 lead.

But, while the odds may be stacked heavily against the Irish, skipper Keane remains convinced their destiny is in their own hands.

He said: "As a team, we know exactly what we have to do - we have to go out tomorrow and perform and make sure we have got no regrets.

"Overall, in the campaign itself, we haven't lost away from home and that has given us a lot of confidence.

"The manager has instilled that into us because the performances away from home have certainly been good and that's something we can take into tomorrow also.

"It has been a decent campaign for us - but it will mean nothing if we don't produce.

"We are in this campaign to be at the World Cup and tonight will decide it."

Ireland have won only one of the previous five play-offs in which they have been involved over the years and the fact no side has ever reached the World Cup finals after losing the first leg does not bode well.

However, Keane is confident the final 90 minutes of the qualifying campaign - it could yet be 120 - might just produce a major surprise.

He said: "We know exactly our job that we have to do and, if we don't do our job, we won't be going to the World Cup, it's as simple as that.

"By no means is it going to be easy but I certainly believe, with this squad of players we have, there is certainly a twist in this game, there's no question about that."

As if there was not already enough at stake, Lassana Diarra's final whistle broadside at Croke Park raised Irish hackles and, while both manager Giovanni Trapattoni and Keane are confident there will be no loss of discipline in Paris, the midfielder's comments have added further spice.

Keane said: "It's obviously put a bit of fuel to the fire but we can't be going into the game thinking about Diarra or the comments he made.

"We have to concentrate on the job at hand and we will certainly be doing that."
