Glitch and Freeze free - is it a myth?

Hi all
I have had an openbox V8s for just over a year now. In that time I have tried 3 different subscrition services all claiming to be the best and glitch/freeze free. Unfortunately none of them were. My question is can these type of boxes ever be freeze/glitch free? and if not, what is the best I can hope for? My current sub will freeze anywhere from 4 to 15 times for about 5 secs each time during a 90 min footy match. Is that normal or should I be looking for a better provider? Is it even the providers fault, or might it be something to do with my internet connection? Sorry about all the questions, but just trying to establish if my expectations for this box are too high.

Regards
Brighamy.

It could be down to a whole host of things, dish allignment, the box you use, your internet connection, your providers server, and your providers internet connection.

Generally speaking, I'd say the issues you describe are down to the provider, however, you can't rule out the other factors.

I've also heard of a LOT of people having issues with Openbox's when it comes to freezing, and when they've upgraded to a Zgemma for example their service becomes a LOT better.

Hope that helps

No such thing as 100% glitch, freeze free, but get the right box, the right set up and a good line and you'll be very close

Are we allowed to say who we get our current lines from to get an opinion on whether they are any good or not?

Big No No, don't name your server, supplier or any details, to keep "things" safe as it's not just Techies that use this site.....what you can do it get a test line from the request thread on here and see if that behaves in the same way or get a trusted user on here to test your line for a short period to see how it performs for them? As mentioned earlier it might not be the supplier but something else.

Sky boxes are known to glitch from time to time due to the softcam. Some boxes work better on newcamd than cccam and it's only from testing can you know what's better

Also you have to look into isp problems lag , ping to server NOT ping on a stupid speed test site, that's just a speed test downloading a file.
You need true ping to your host/server then also ecm turn around

Just an update on my situation. One of the other members was good enough to send me a test line of the mgcamd variety which I trailed last night. There were still glitches, but they were not anywhere near as frequent, and of much shorter duration, so overall a big improvement. However I now seem to have a different problem. If I am watching scrambled channels all is well and I can switch between them with no problem. If however I am watching a fta channel and then try to switch to a scrambled channel the scrambled channel stays scrambled and I cannot watch it without powering off the box and restarting it. Has anyone encountered this and if so is there a solution. I should add that this only occurs with the new mgcamd line and not with the existing cccam lines.
