Hold yourselves together everyone. It’s time to say farewell to one of soap’s biggest stars. After 31 years, Jack duckworth is going to fly up on pigeons’ wings to the big cobbled street in the sky and finally meet up with his beloved Vera.
Appropriately enough, Jack doesn’t depart the street without giving out a few opinions. He tells Molly that he knows all about her affair with Kevin Webster. He’s suspected for a while and he reckons that there’s only one thing she should do - take Tyrone and baby Jack and leave Weatherfield for good.
He then leaves a party in the Rovers, returns home and passes away quietly in his own living room. Well, quietly, apart from a vision of Vera who appears to him (Liz Dawn, who plays her, returns to the soap for his final scenes). Moving stuff
