H2S Works at My House But Not Parents??

Hi,

I have been trying and failing miserably to install a Zgemma H2S box at my parents house.

I bought the box from a seller on eBay that i had previously bought a box from for myself all set up.

Anyway, when i set it up at my parents the box would load up to 100% but get stuck on the boot screen. I reflashed it with a back up from the box, same result. So installed Wooshbuild, same result, stuck on boot.

So I brought the box to my house and set it up, worked first time!!??

Can anyone think of a reason for this? I connected up the Sky box they have always used and it worked ok still. The cabling is about 20 years old but the dish was replaced recently. I don't know what else i can do?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sky q installed recently with new dish ?

So you can't get the box past boot at all at the parents?
so why worried about cable if you haven't got that far

if you take out the cables and only have power in and HDMI does it come on

They haven't had Sky Q installed, they don't even have a recordable box.

Box won't get past boot at all at parents. Wooshbuild or original boot screen shows. If i press epg, menu etc they come up. However the box boots perfectly at my house.

Im not worried about cable or dish really as like i said, their Sky box still works. I just wanted to mention this as its the only difference to my setup (my dish, cables etc are anout 8 years old).

Ive not tried without dish cables connected, im at home now so can't try this at the moment.

I suppose you could say it boots just not normally, like i said i still have the boot logo in the background and no channels work even though ive downloaded the crossepg. Strange thing is it booted perfectly at mine and BBC1 came on straight away?

When booting up at yours, are you using a different power supply ? i.e using your power supply and their box ?

So at the parents if you press menu or EPG does it bring anything on the screen?
if yes, then your box has booted

The power supply im using is the same at my house as theirs i.e. the supply that came with their box.

Yes if i press menu etc then these are displayed on screen.

No channels work at my parents, all FTA channels work here, I haven't FTP'd the Cline yet as i wanted the box to be working to start with.

Have you typed in 101 to go to BBC 1? Seeing the bootlogo screen strikes me as being normal if the box looks for a paid channel upon booting, but the line isn't active/present. i.e. The box won't necessarily boot up and show a FTA channel, so the line needs to be working if it boots to anything other than FTA.

Hi, to be fair it did open up to Sky Sports News, which wouldn't work till the Cline was installed.

I did type in 101 but nothing came up other than the bar at the bottom of the screen you get when you first switch to a channel telling you the channel name, this showed BBC1 but no picture. The Wooshbuild logo was still in the background the whole time?

When i booted the box up at mine BBC1 came up straight away and the Wooshbuild logo disappeared as you would expect. Even after several re boots at my parents this would not work.

I can check the connectors the next time i am over, just strange they still get a picture on their Sky box?

The USB I have used at both houses has been the same.

Well the first I would check is the signal strength, Menu > Setup > Service Searching > Signal Finder and go from there.

Ok, will check the signal strength the next time im over, can you tell me how to get to this through the menus?

Also, what are the useable limits?

Thanks systemlord for the menu info. What strength should it be between?

as near to 100% as poss, anything 60% or lower could struggle, are you same region channels as parents too i.e. BBC Wales etc?

Yes, same region channels at both houses. I will check the signal strength and report back.

Thank you everyone for your help.
