Satellite H7S Freeview channels issue ........

Hi Guys,

Bit of a strange one here, see if anyone has got any ideas...

So i have the H7S box, I had it connected to my satalite dish at my old house, and was using it to recieve freeview channels. This worked great, got all my usual chanels ITV, BBC etc
I have moved house, and the house i have moved to has a satalite dish already up, great i though i should be able to reconnect and away i go. I was a bit ambitious at this point LOL

So upon connecting the 2 satalite cables to the rear of the H7S as per previous setup in old house, I noticed i was getting no channels. I then assumed the channels would probably need rescanned, so I did an auto scan, not changing any of my tuner configuration, and it started finding channels, approx 112 . Great I though, I will have my TV back on again. Here is the kicker............. It finds 112 channels and lists these in the guide, most of which I have never heard of and only a hand full of the 112 actually work. I have no BBC, no ITV,CH4,CH5 or any other ones that look like frieview channels that I am used to, couple of foreign channels and a hand full of sky channels listed but obviously show nothing...........

My tuner config is set to 28.2E Astra same as it was at previous house, and my understanding is the dish will be pointing at the same satalite due me only moving about 20 miles, not change of country. I believe my box is working ok, and im assuming because i am recieving channels the dish is ok and decoder. Its a weird one and im not a pro at this by any means so it could be something totaly daft...

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance

M :-)

Its worse as the channels you found might be from a different sat as previous tenant was using a different sat, stick up a screenshot of listed channels as you will then know.

You cannot assume the dish is pointing at 28.2 just because you haven’t moved far. It could be pointing at any number of satellites.
If it was sky q it wouldn’t work at all with your zgemma.

You say you don’t recognise most of the channels. What channels are you now receiving after your scan?

Hi folks,

Thank you for the influx of fast replies, I will go and grab a screen shot of the channels in the list and see if anyone can clarify or not. I might be wrong and ive never used sky Q so please correct me, but the dish that is up on my new house has cabling for multi room, cables in the living room and cables in the bedroom, is this required on sky Q, i thought only the main box recieved cables from the satalite.... again im not an expert, so please do correct me if im wrong.

With regards to the dish pointing in the correct direction, all the dishes in our street are pointing in the same dirrection and i have used an app on my phone to check the direction, I know this is rough, so again apologies, working with limited tools. Give me a few minutes and i will upload some of the channels and see if this looks familiar to any one...........

Again with the LNB, is there a way of telling which one is fitted, is it numbered or identified in any way?

away to get the photos........

Thanks Again

M

I think skyQ can be ruled out if picking up foreign channels as they only use their lnb on 28.2.

Houses and rooms can have any amount of feeds if needed.

Hi Guys,

So i have attached a couple of photos to see what you think. I may have been incorrect regarding the foreign channels, maybe not just the names ive never heard of. I have taken a photo of the reciever config, and the scan page. I appologise for some of the channel names shown in the photos, this is unfortunate the way they display.

@linesman66 - do you have a brief description on how i do this, sat finder being a plugin for my box? or an app for my phone. apologies im very much a novice but hopefully should get to the bottom of this.

Thanks

Why is your tuner set as advanced?
If it's a standard setup it should be like this:

You will need to rescan for channels after changing settings.

Hi,

@willow3092 - I have tried it on simple and advanced mode to see if there were any differences. I just set it back to simple mode and rescanned channels and I am still recieving the same as above images. I have also managed to get some additional infomation showing the channel info etc. I dont know what a lot of it means, but im sure someone might spot something up with it.

Ok,

So i have just gone and looked at the LNB and the cables, and it looks like you may be correct about the Sky Q LNB, please see photo to confirm.

I traced the cabled back to the dish from the bedroom and they look like they are disconnected from the LNB and are taped up out of the way, you can see this in the photo. I am assuming its had the normal LNB multiroom setup, then the previous owner has had SKY Q installed. This would explain why there is only one cable connected to the LNB, and the other is taped up????

Appreciate the help guys...........

Can you feed back regarding the LNB, and i supose the next step would be getting a hold of a hybrid LNB..........

You only need a hybrid lnb if you are using SKY Q services + enigma2 boxes.
Checking on kingofsat lists those channels on 28.2 so would agree on lnb.

Thanks folks,

any suggestions on the best NB orbest place to buy one...... Obviously bit limited at the moment with all shops pretty much being closed, but im assuming amazon would have such a thing. Im fairly confident in fitting it, just want to get the correct thing so not to cause myself more problems LOL :-)
