Have FINALLY fixed my freezing Zgrmma 2s!

Rab70

Newbie
By installing an old version of Vix..

I've been suffering from freezing issues for ages on this box. I'd read many others on here having the same problems and tried all the usual fixes, have good stable broadband, checked for probs with provider etc..

Tried all the latest Sucmnsee and Whooshbuilds.. Still loads of freezing for about 10 seconds making tv unwatchable on occasion..

I tried installing an old version of Vix i had lying around on my HD from when i first bought the box.. And it works great! No freezing issues at all!

The build I'm using is Hades.014 from 26th June 2015. A bit of a pain having to set it all up by hand but worth it to get a freeze free experience at last!

Hope that helps someone.. The freezing has been driving me mad for months!

Which cam and version are you using on vix? Is it Mgcamd by any chance?

Could it be that the latest versions of the cams are causing issues on wooshbulld.

I'm currently using mgcamd 1.35a as that's the only one i had lying around on my HD.. But I've tried various versions when i had Sucmnsee installed.. Tried cccam, mgcamd and even oscam.. Getting glitches whatever the cam..

I've had tv on all last night and all day today and only noticed 1 glitch for about a second which is to be expected..

Could it be that the old backup your using is Mgcamd 1.35a whereas the latest backups you used have Mgcamd 1.38 installed?

hi rab!
please please can you post your copy of vix you say is stable?
my box been driving me crazy
thanks
p.s im using sucmnseevix4,1,001zgemma2s-release-5.3.0

Rob said right at the start he tried both. Sucmnsee is Vix, WooshBuild is OpenATV

Wooshbuild and Sucmnsee's images both use the same mg_cfg file as it has a good configuration but I think looking at Rab70's previous posts he has also tried C cam back in January which don't need mg_cfg. It is also the same mg_cfg file which is available in the download section of the boards so I would image a fair few users on TechKings would be complaining of the same issue. There are no later version of cams as WooshBuild is using the same cams it used 14 months ago, 5 WooshBuilds ago.

Call me defensive but wonder why you chose WooshBuild to be the issue when Rab states
Tried all the latest Sucmnsee and Whooshbuilds

With God knows how many thousands of users between the two images, I think either Sucmnsee or myself would have been shouted at by now by a lot of angry people if their line was , let alone the mg_cfg download havig complaints. Rob doesn't say if he tested lines from other providers either which is always worth a go.

In the grand scale of things you help a few uses out of all users of the images available, so would appreciate you not pointing the finger at WooshBuild as your first port of call.

You misunderstood my post I'm not implying the issue was with your backup but perhaps with the version of Mgcamd. I use your build myself as well as some others and have no issues but as the poster is using an old build I wondered if it was a different version of Mgcamd and that maybe that was the cause.

OK here's the build i'm using.. I'm VERY interested to see if it fixes the problems for other folk too!! You'll have to manually install whatever cam you want to use..

I don't think this is a sucmnsee / whoosh problem.. I think at some point in history some change was made to Vix which is causing these freezes (and this change has possibly been ported to OpenATV too)

No, still he same mg_cfg file as it has always been.

Looking through the post history I would say it could be more related to something Rob's end as all the images he has tried seems to result in the same result.

August, December and January show test line requests. Unless he ended up on the same server, it does point to internal stuff more than anything else. If I had three lines doing the same thinf I would be looking as to why they are all the same when surely it can't be like that for everyone.

I should add I have 2 boxes.. My 2nd box had this old build on it and I positioned the TV's so I could see if the freezing on one was happening on the other.. (I had come to the conclusion that this was a hardware problem). When I saw the second box wasn't freezing at the same time as the first I thought to myself that my main box was goosed... So I replaced that with my second box (still thinking it was a hardware problem). loaded it with Whooshbuild and straight away freezing problems.. Strange I thought.. So I managed to dig out the original version of Vix I had on my second box.. loaded it back on and what do you know.. No freezing!!!

So I now think there is something in later versions of Vix which are incompatible with the ZGemma 2s and cause this freeze for many folk!

I've been (unhappily) tolerating this for months now.. Some days are worse than others.. It seems many folk are in the same boat as me.. I'd love to know if installing this build fixed the problem for them too!

I should be able to make all WooshBuild version available to you if you want to play more...... should lol

Very kind of you! But I think more investigation is needed to try and narrow down what the problem is first! This build is pretty old and crashy.. But I'm putting up with it as it seems to work for me! I don't even have a skin installed..

HI woosham!
sorry for the post,i was and never would blame anyones build for the problem i got,but i too have 2 boxes, 1=f5s no glitching, and 1 zgemma 2s( now glitching, never used to)both with the same line provider both on my virgin media 150MB broadband, next to each other both on the same dish(have been for years) so my only conclusion is something has happened in the last few days,to cause this glitching on the zgemma,
i will try openvix hades 014 and see if the glitching stops and post the result here.
according to my line provider,i am not alone with this zgemma problem as weird as it is!

Do the boxes have 2 separate lines? Or is it a multiroom setup? That can also be an issue despite what some sellers say.

hi mbath!
multiroom ,allowed upto 3 tuners, has been fine for 11months, both boxes use the same n-line, both boxes work but for some reason over the last 3 days the zgemma glitches/freezes every 10mins os so
the seller knows i have 2 boxes and its been fine for ages as i said
thanks for trying to help
p.s i have looked on loads of posts on this forum and the common problem does seem to be the zgemma 2s lately!!

AND i have even removed the f5s and tried the zgemma on its own, still glitches

hi mbath!
nope zgemma glitches as i said even when i removed completely the f5s unplugged from power supply!
its not the dish/lnb and im sure as im not the only one with this problem that something is happening with the image latelely( but i have no idea as to why ) im on virgin broadband but other users are on BT/SKY etc
i even re-named my box so virgin canot see a zgemma on the broadband line, as getting paranoid they looking for these boxes and somehow trying to block em

Hey bigguy..

Things are still working great for me! Best it's been for a long time!

You can download the cams from here.. http://www.openvix.co.uk/index.php/downloads/softcams/
Ftp the .ipk into your /tmp folder and you can install from the Vix menu on the box
