Hdd keeps disappearing from box

My hdd keeps disconnecting from my h2s. So it won't all ways boot and I can't get through the hole setup of whoosh build. It worked for 2 weeks fine. Could pause record and everything.
Can I use a 500gb usb stick instead ?

is your hdd a portable or externally powered and i presume mounted,are you switching power off to box?
 
have you tested it on your pc for problems there could be bad sectors on it ....just like when you use them on a pc they can fail..
 
Yeh works fine on Pc. It now doesn't boot with it plugged in. When I initialise it that screens seems to crash at the end.

So it has been re-formatted on Windows so you could test it? And then put back in the box and initialised but fails at the end?
 
Yeh I re formatted it tested on pc and it says no errors and healthy.
Shows up storage devices, initialised but it crashes at the end. Does the same with a usb flash drive
