How do you install the kryptview Bin

Hi all I have bought kryptview780 while ago, but I have to say i am sorry I dont know a lot about it. So I am trying to understand all the techino words here to make it work. so far i am only struggling to download the bin software. but any help or suggestion
will be aprecaited.
 
Read all the stickies at the top of the kryptview home page.

They explain everything you need to know.

You need the bin file, and the loader program.
They are both in the download section, if you follow this link.

Have a go at flashing the box (loading the bin file on to the box)

If you get stuck post back with as much info as possible and
we will try to help.

Make sure you have a "null modem cable" not an RS232 serial
cable they look identical but are wired differently !!

There is a chance the box will has up-to-date firmware already installed check--Menu--System Info -whats does the date show.?

If a recent firmware is on the box an update can be done via the remote and connect to the net--Menu--installation--0000--S/W Update worth a try
 
Hi, can anyone help with my kryptview a780 box. I try to flash it and i am getting a pop up message that says " can't open serial portCom1. it then says to check for com port paramiters: Baudrate: 115200 bps
parity: no parity
Databite: 8 bit/ data
Stop bit: 1
I dont know if this means anything I am just puting it up here incase it assists in resolving the problem. any help is apreciated
 
Right click My Computer icon on desktop to find your device manager.
Drop the + sign (plus sign) on Ports (Com & LPT) should tell u what port you are connected to or which one you need to connect to.
Shout if you're still having issues
 
does your pc have a serial port the same as the kv box,then all you should need is a null modem cable.

Thank you for your help. However I have window 7 home edition and i can't seem to find the Ports (Com & LPT) on my divice manager. Is it located differently on window7?

No I dont have the same port I have the 15pin one on my laptop. but i use the usb adapter with null modem. thanks for your reply
 
Sorry did you not find the device manager page or can you not see the Ports (Com & LPT) parts??
Also are you connecting a usb adapter to your null modem cable then to your box?
The connection needs to be firmly done as sometimes the laptop does not recognise it; may be an idea to disconnect and reconnect a few times.​

I coudnt see the ports (Com & LPT) parts. I have checked under the hidden devices. they are not anywhere to be found.
Also yes I am using the usb adapter to my null modem and the box. thanks for your paitence

PS: just to make sure does the box need to be turned on while doing the flashing? cheers
 
As soon as u connect the USB adapter via the null modem cable to the box and laptop, the laptop should pick it up with the usual Windows OS box. If it does not acknowledge connection then check the connections again. I had an issue with my USB not connected properly so had to tighten the null modem cable to the adapter. Did you hav a look at Hitek's sticky on all this? Can you confirm you hav the same cables?

Yes the box will need to be on when you flash it.

Plug in your USB convertor with the null modem lead attatched into a USB port
on your computer.

go to Start - Devices and printers.

If there is no obvious device listed you need to install a driver for your USB lead

try the prolific driver
PL2303_Prolific_DriverInstaller_v1.6.0.zip

After installing the driver you should see

Prolific USB to Serial Comm Port (Com "number") in the devices and printers.

Right click on the device - Properties

Hardware - Properties

Port Settings - Change bits per second to 115200

When using the loader program to transfere the BIN file make
sure the Com Port "Number" selected in the loader matches the
one the USB is using on your computer.

That was really helpful I have done all that ( for clarification sake, i have selected the com port number the usb is on and changed bits per sec to 115200) but now when i press start a message popup comes saying "the dowloading is not requested". any ideas?
 
Yes, may be a couple of things,

Go into your devises again and make sure the changes to the
bit rate have saved, it sounds like they have as the other
error has now cleared.

"Download not requested" is a cable or com port issue
basically the box doesnt see your computer.

If your com ports are selected correctly it is then a cable issue.

USB to serial convertor leads do not give the best
connections where the USB lead meets the null modem
cable.

Give it a few wiggles and try downloading it
a few times and see if it transferes the data.
It should go through with a little patience.

I would also tighten the screws on the lead at the box end too.

Make sure the box is switched off using the switch at the back.
Press the download button on the loader.
Power on the box from the switch at the back.
Should start downloading.

If it does not after a few attempts you may have the wrong cable.

I made sure the bits per sec are saved and wiggle the cables and i am still getting "the downloading is not requested" message, its a bit furstrating. About the cables though the null cable has 9-pin and the usb adapter is a corsponding male part to the null cable right? The only thing i am suspecting is (not that i know what am talking about) i have used a trail winzip from their website and so when i downloaded the loader or the bin it allows me to use the evaluation version. i dont know if that affects it though? apreciate your help
 
Yes it is a 9 pin female - female cable.

Do you know it is definatly a "null modem" and not a "RS232 Serial" cable.

It must be "null modem" or it won't work. They look identical but
the pins are wired between each end in a different way.

The winzip thing should't matter.

You could try and find an older computer with a serial port, usually running XP,( as cactikid has suggested)
the cable plugs straight between the computer and box and you have
less issues with the "download not requested" problem.
No messing with port settings or anything this way.

If you try this and it still doesn't work, you have definatly
got the wrong cable.
