hi peeps, please be gentle....
i got this in a charity shop today, i'm not a sat user, as i have the kv780, anyway, is it any good (technomate) i know its not hd or ought flash, tried looking up info on it, but everything dates back to 2006, if i gave it to my neighbour who has a dish, but no bb or ought, would he be able to use it as a freesat box ? or have i bought a pig in a poke, and if he could use it, would i be able to get instuctions on how to set it up, or tune it in for him, View attachment 10166
thanks for looking

This is an older technomae receiver that was around before the tm1500 ect. Support stopped for it ages ago but there is no reason why it cannot be used as a freesat box. The menus should be easy enough to work out but one thing you may have to do is alter some of the transponder values as they will be from ages ago and if you don't do a scan tyou may not pick up all the channels available. This receiver in its day could be patched to open channels but I would not image it could open any now when support stopped I think you could update the software to a next machine of something but it made the remote stop working. Is that a dragon cam in the picture next to the remote or is it a picture off the net you have used. If its a dragon cam with the correct programming software and latest preditor key file they may be some encrypted channels available.

thanks for reply Kegnkiwi, yeah its a dragon cam, it was in the box, plus a fun 7 loader card, and like a small sim card in the cam, would i have to put these back in the box when i give it to my mate, or could i just tune the box into his dish without them for freesat, and if i kept the cam would it be of any use to me should i go down the sat side in the future ? which i'm not brave enough to do just now, as i have never dealt with the sat side of things, i would assume the boxes come without a cam and loader, so would just be a freesat, until you purchased a cam and card? thanks for your reply, will try and find a manual for it, and see if i can tune it into his tv, thanks again
